Chapter 15: A New Beginning

The next few weeks were a blur for Angela. She lay awake most nights staring at the ceiling, while most mornings, she was too exhausted to get out of bed. She was overcome with nausea each morning as soon as she remembered Griffin was gone. But she'd kept her promise to herself. She hadn't shed a single tear since that day he left. Keeping that pledge gave her the strength to get through each day.

Her father sensed her distress and encouraged her to take it easy. Since he was feeling so much better, he took over managing the shop again. No one, not even Gina, commented that by the time Angela dragged herself out of bed and reported for work, it was already early afternoon.
