Chapter 66: A New Life

Four months later, Griffin pulled his car over in front of a stately marble townhouse in Manhattan. “Welcome home,” he said to Angela as he helped her out of the car.

Angela stood looking at the three-story elegant building with Juliet balconies anchoring each of the large expansive windows. She could imagine Rory and their soon-to-be baby girl sleeping peacefully in their rooms, the breeze wafting in through the open windows, gently ruffling the curtains. The image made her burst with happiness. “I can’t believe it’s actually happening,” Angela said, resting her hands on her swollen belly. “It’s like a dream come true.”

“I told you money wasn’t all bad,” Griffin grinned, guiding her around the car with a gentle hand on her back. He opened the back door and released Rory from his car seat. Tired of sitting, Rory scrambled onto the sidewalk, his plump little legs running for the broad steps of the new house.
