Protecting a beggar

The boy had just backed into a corner that led to a huge hallway when he accidentally bumped into someone.

'Crash'

Hearing the sound of something shattering, he turned around and looked at the floor, finding a a broken wheel near his foot. As his gaze shifted further, a whole broken remote control car came to his view.

''You... Are you blind?!" the voice was filled with disbelief.

The boy slowly looked up and found three boys standing in front of him, on the other side of the remote control car.

''Roman, this... this was the latest version of this company and only one of these was out in the market. This.. Where did this beggar come from?'' the boy who had spoken up before continued.

The other boy standing in the front also looked at the one in the front, ''Shall I call the guards to throw him out?"

Both the boys seemed to be looking at the boy in the middle whose name was Roman.

Roman's brown hair was coiffed to perfection and his green eyes were like that of an emerald, settling on the person who broke the remote control car that he had taken out today for the first time. A small and kind smile quirked up on his lips, ''What's your name?"

The boy on the opposite glanced at the broken car before looking up at the boy again, ''Zayden,'' when he spoke, his voice was unbelievably hoarse. Even he had no realized how much of a time had passed since the last time he had spoken. Maybe a few hours, or a day or since the time he saw the cold body of his parents.

''Zayden,'' Roman nodded.

''This was an accident. I apologize...''

''Zayden,'' Roman interrupted the boy, ''Do you want to get to your knees and beg for my forgiveness or do you want me to cut your body parts and feed them to the dogs around here?''

Zayden's stood rooted to his spot as he watched the boy speaking such cruel words, still with the kind smile on his face.

''There are many of those wild dogs in my family as I came to know recently. We keep them starved just to feed them with unruly bastards like you,'' Roman tilted his chin. Despite being two heads shorter than Zayden, he did not seem the least bit intimidated.

The two boys standing behind Roman motioned Zayden to quickly kneel on the floor but he did not move, hence infuriating them. They felt like this guy was too arrogant. It was rare for Roman to be this kind already. Maybe since this was a huge event, he was trying to not cause chaos and was being kind but even at this juncture, this Zayden guy was standing with his straight spine.

As moments passed by and the boy did not move, the look in Roman's eyes changed. He stepped forward, ''Kneel and slap yourself twice.''

The boys behind him closed their eyes. This Zayden guy was obviously make it tough for himself by complicating things with every minute of his refusal.

''Kneel and slap yourself thrice,'' Roman stood right in front of Zayden but when the latter still did not move, he spoke, ''Since you can't do it, then you are asking for me to do it,'' the indifferent look in Zayden's eyes angered him.

With those words, he swung his fist, aiming it at the boy's aloof eyes.

Suddenly, a delicate arm stretched in front of Zayden's eyes and intercepted that fist. A palm wrapped around it.

Roman attempted to push his hand but it did not budge from the spot under the grip of that delicate palm.

''You have some guts stirring trouble here with everyone,'' a sweet voice broke Zayden out of his reverie.

When he looked to the side, he could not see anyone and he followed the outstretched arm and slowly looked down, his gaze landing on Leona who had blocked Roman's fist.

Roman's face was slightly ugly as he looked at the person who had intercepted him, ''You... Are you protecting a beggar?"

''Nonsense. Why should this young miss tell you who she protects? Who do you think you are?" the young girl tilted her chin and shoved the fist that she had grabbed.

Hearing the arrogance in the girl's tone, Roman sighed helplessly, ''Forget it, little sister. Whatever makes you happy,'' the boy shrugged.

Zayden observed how this time, the little girl's face turned ugly at the address of 'little sister'.
