"Elena!! Elena!!" Cedric called out, his voice filled with concern and relief as he spotted his daughter in the distance. Her name echoed through the air, drawing her attention. Trembling with a mixture of fear and hope, Elena turned towards her father, her heart pounding in her chest.
Cedric let out a sigh of relief as he reached her side, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank the heavens you're safe," he whispered, his voice saturated with emotion. The weight of worry lifted from his shoulders as he took in the sight of his beloved daughter standing before him.
"And what if she wasn't?" Damien interjected, his tone laced with arrogance. His presence loomed over the group, casting a shadow of uncertainty. The air grew tense as his words hung in the air, taunting and menacing.
Leonidas, ever protective of Elena, stepped forward, his voice filled with warning. "Hey! Watch your words!" he exclaimed, his voice firm and resolute. He stood tall, a shield of loyalty and bravery, ready to defend those he cared for.
But Damien only smirked, his smile sending chills down their spines. His eyes glinted with a malevolence that seemed to seep into their very souls. "If I really wanted to, your leg, hand, and head would have been separated by now," he taunted, his voice dripping with malice. The darkness that surrounded him seemed to grow stronger, suffocating the light.
Leonidas felt fear grip his heart as he faced this embodiment of evil. The demonic presence emanating from Damien sent shivers down his spine, a reminder of the true power he possessed. Yet, defiance burned within Leonidas, refusing to be extinguished. "I don't think that's gonna happen. You're not the only demon my comrades and I have faced," he declared, his voice filled with unwavering determination.
Damien approached Leonidas, his hand resting on his shoulder, his touch cold and unsettling. The weight of his presence pressed down on Leonidas, threatening to crush his spirit. "You see, I'm not like any other demon you've encountered," Damien declared, his voice laced with authority. His words hung in the air, a chilling reminder of the darkness that lurked within him.
"Now tell your sheep to lay down their weapons and behave," Damien said, patting Leonidas' shoulder as he dropped Elena to the ground. "I suppose it's time for me to be on my way, little girl," Damien remarked to Elena. She replied with a simple "bye" as Damien made his exit through the kingdom walls, his demonic smirk intact. Cedric, ensuring Elena's safety, ordered the gates to be sealed before returning to his chamber. A sense of relief washed over them all as they welcomed the new day with the rising sun.
Leonidas strolled through the palace, the clashing of swords filling the air as the knights engaged in their rigorous training. Taking a moment to rest, he settled into a nearby chair, his gaze drawn to the captivating sight before him. It was then that he noticed Isabel approaching, her graceful presence commanding attention.
"Good day, my queen," Leonidas greeted, his voice filled with reverence.
"Ah, there you are," Isabel replied, a hint of intrigue in her tone.
Leonidas nodded, his eyes reflecting admiration. "Indeed, my queen. Is it not a splendid sight, watching the knights hone their skills? Their dedication and unwavering loyalty to our land are truly awe-inspiring."
Isabel's response was tinged with skepticism. "Oh, really?" she mused, taking a seat beside Leonidas. "I must admit, I fail to see the greatness you speak of. Last night, they seemed as insignificant as ants when confronted with the arrival of the demon."
Leonidas, ever the defender of his knights, defended their honor. "The kingdom's knights are far from insignificant, my queen. They possess a bravery and might that few can rival. They fight not only with their weapons, but with an unyielding passion to protect our realm. Words alone cannot capture the essence of their valor and strength."
Isabel's doubt remained. "Hmm, you praise them so highly, yet I struggle to witness such qualities firsthand," she remarked, her skepticism apparent.
Leonidas paused, reflecting on the events of the previous night. "The demon's sudden appearance caught us all off guard. It was an unexpected threat that tested even the bravest of hearts. Perhaps they faltered momentarily, but it does not diminish their unwavering commitment. As for my own demeanor, any trace of worry you sensed was merely a reflection of my concern for the impending battle. I would never wish harm upon our king."
"And so," Isabel said with a hint of doubt, "I find that hard to believe."
"You know, my queen," Leonidas replied confidently, "I have slain many demons in the land. I have no fear of a single one."
"True," Isabel acknowledged, "but all I see is that our kingdom is in need of the bravest of men, not the weak. We live in a world of bloodshed, and I require men who can spill it."
Isabel's words were interrupted by the arrival of the king. "Good morning, my lord," Leonidas greeted the king with a respectful bow.
"Morning, Sir Leonidas," Cedric, the king, replied as Leonidas stood back on his feet.
Cedric then turned his attention to Isabel. "I couldn't help but notice your conversation with Leonidas. What were you two discussing?"
"Nothing of great importance, my lord," Isabel replied, trying to downplay the significance. "Just exchanging words."
"But it seemed like he was taken aback by your discussion," Cedric pressed, taking a seat beside Isabel.
"It was merely a question of his bravery, my lord," Isabel explained. "We must be certain if he is truly worthy of his title."
Cedric defended Leonidas, saying, "I must say, Leonidas is one of my best men in battle. I trust him with my troops. He doesn't flee like a coward; he attacks like a lion."
"That's your perspective, my lord," Isabel responded, looking away. There was a hint of skepticism in her voice.
Cedric, determined to assert his trust in Leonidas, said, "You must trust in my word, don't you?"
"Of course, I do," Isabel replied, her gaze returning to Cedric. "Then I shall trust your decision regarding Leonidas."
"Very well, my queen," Cedric concluded. "You were merely doing your duty. I appreciate your vigilance in ensuring our trust does not fall into the wrong hands but so you can be sometimes dangerous in doing so ."
" As you may say my king ", Isabel said with a smile, her eyes locking onto the knights training in the distance. "Good morning, my lord," greeted a guard who had just arrived.
"What brings you here?" Cedric inquired, his curiosity piqued.
"I have some important news to share, my lord," the guard replied. "Sir Maximus has been located. It seems he was injured during the attack."
Cedric stood up abruptly, a sense of urgency in his movements. "Where is he now?" he demanded.
"He is in his chamber, attended by our best physician," the guard informed him.
"I must take my leave now, my dear queen," Cedric said, his voice filled with concern. "I need to attend to my brother."
"Alright, my king," Isabel replied. "You're not leaving just yet. Stay here. It looks like it's going to be a dreadfully boring day, and I could use some company."Isabel said to the guard.
Cedric barged into Maximus' chamber, swiftly pushing the physician aside as he rushed to his brother's side. "Hey, what are you doing?" Cedric exclaimed, his concern evident in his voice. Sitting beside Maximus, he asked, "How are you doing, brother?" Maximus, wounded but defiant, replied, "I may be wounded, but I ain't weak." Maximus expressed his apologies, but cedric interjected, questioning why he should be sorry.
"I couldn't protect my niece, Elena," Maximus explained, disappointment weighing heavily on his words. "We were attacked by those vicious, cruel demons, and I could only watch as they went after Elena with my last eye." Cedric, eager to deliver good news, reassured him, "Well, I have good news for you, brother. Elena is safe. Nothing happened to her. She's perfectly fine and in her chamber." Maximus, taken aback, exclaimed, "Really!?"
"Yeah, brother," Cedric confirmed. "That's such a relief to hear. But how?" Maximus inquired. Cedric replied, "Well, we can discuss that another day." Maximus accepted his brother's response with an "Oh, alright." Cedric then acknowledged the physician's plea to treat Maximus' wounds, standing up from the bed. "Alright, please treat him. I think I shall now make my way out, brother," Cedric said.
"Alright, and when I'm feeling a little better, I'm going to check on our little dear princess. I'm sure she must be worried about me," Maximus remarked. "Yeah," Cedric agreed as he made his way out of Maximus' chamber.
