Surprise

Chloe, still sprawled on the couch, suddenly sat up like she had been struck by divine inspiration.

"You know what would make this even better?" she said, eyes glinting with mischief.

I didn't trust that look. "No, Chloe. Absolutely not."

She grinned. "We should hide."

Lydia snorted. "Hide? Why?"

"Think about it," Chloe said, waving her arms dramatically. "Elena walks in, sees all this beautiful setup, and for a moment, she's just confused. And then—bam! We jump out and surprise her!"

I groaned. "No."

"Yes!" Chloe insisted. "It'll be hilarious!"

Isabel, arms crossed, looked unimpressed. "Hilarious for who?"

"Everyone involved!" Chloe declared.

"Or," Isabel countered, "we could just sit here like normal people and greet her when she walks in?"

"Too boring," Chloe said, shaking her head. "This is supposed to be memorable!"

I sighed, rubbing my temples. "Chloe—"
