You know those moments in anime's or shows that the main characters get some sort of last second power boost?

Well max and Peter tried there best but unfortunately for the rookies this was reality.

In the hospital part of the base max was covered in bandages thanks to his skin suffering from burns and his arm was broken thanks to ryu's single impact.

He tried to land one again but ryu was like a tank and when he hit him with one of his own max tried to defend himself but his arm ended up being broken.

As for Peter he was covered in bandages too but unlike max he wasn't completely mummified he just had some bruises and a few fractured bones.

Even though Jason had a wooden weapon he beat him up badly with the help of void the red head was beaten to a pulp.

Now the two just look like they were done with life.

Max: that sucked.

Peter: big time.

Peter looked at max's necklace and he asked.

Peter: hey why don't you just heal yourself with that necklace?

Max: what's wounded is my small amount of pride and that guy ryu is a fucking monster. Every time I tried to get the upper hand he out powered me.

Peter: yeah and that guy Jason was also a monster he was so fast and his dog. shadow whatever didn't make it better for me.

Max: yup this sucked

The juniors entered the room and some of them had bandages while Sonia only had minor bandages thanks to her ridiculous durability and healing abilities and Micheal had a warm towel warped around his body to keep him warm.

But Bonnie had a sling on her arm and under her arm was a warm pack.

Bonnie: you two seem to be ready to give up on life.

Max/peter: shut up.

Micheal: don't think you have the right to be snarky you're arm was frozen solid.

Bonnie: yeah but at least I won my own fight sure I got knocked out but at least I got my own win.

Seina: mine was a draw that girl can take some punishment.

Ken: speaking of punishment my fight with Henry was wierd it was had a symbol on his forehead and all the damage I did to him just healed and everytime I landed a hit I was the one who felt it.

Micheal: he must have some sort of pain immunity that explains why you lost.

Sonia: if we are talking about losing then mine was a thrashing. I was getting used to my own color attributes and that girl didn't give me a chance to recover and it didn't help that I was getting tired from using it.

Micheal: I recommend that you don't run away and help yourself that's how rookies with green energy

Seina: hey Micheal how come you know so much about certain things?

Micheal: my dad lended me a book so that I was prepared for the exorcist business.

Peter: that explains that but still today we got destroyed and it showed just how out matched we are.

Bonnie: I won my own.

Ken: because you planned for it. and it cost you your arm.

Bonnie: I still have an arm genius. And besides my new trick worked like a charm.

Max: that is?

Bonnie: I can make my bubbles explode and if trapped her inside of one mine the result wouldn't have ended well.

Peter: I don't want to think about that.

The door opened and they expected freya to enter but instead it was a woman that they never met before.

Peter: Sophie?

Sophia: I come back after a trip and what do I see first you in a hospital bed. I thought I trained you better.

Peter: hey come on give me a break we were fighting against the seniors what do wanted me to do?

Sophia just pinch her nose and let out a sigh.

Sophia: fine but do me a favor and don't get so beaten up.

Peter: that's kinda hard to promise.

Seina: wait Sophia. Oh your another friend of my mom I heard that they call you the descriptor witch.

Sophia: please don't call me that. And yes I'm a friend of your mom. And it's nice to meet you Seina your mom has told me a lot about you. Oh where are my manners my name is Sophia charlotte nice to meet you all.

Peter: hey Sophie what happened in your mission you said that it would take a few more weeks.

Sophia: well to my luck I finished quickly. Luckily my own car is pretty damn fast.

Bonnie: holy shit. This woman is a badass.

Sonia: yeah this lady is something else if she has a car of her own.

Sophia: just wait until you have a mission with me sweetheart you'll droll at the sight of my baby.

Peter: I still plan to get a drivers license you know?

Sophia: no your not 18 and I don't trust you behind the wheel one time when I wasn't home you took my car and wrecked it. And it caused me a lot of money to repair the damage. So do you really Expect me to trust you with a car?

Bonnie: ( note to self. never. never let Peter behind the wheel)

Peter: ugh fine.

The door opened and freya came in with a clipboard.

Freya: Sophia can you leave for a few minutes? I need to take care of the kids.

Sophia: sure f. It was nice to meet you all.

Sophia left the room and through out the day the juniors stayed in the medical building healing.

Mean while Sophia ran into Miguel who was talking to Jason with void out and waging his tail.

Sophia: well well it's been a while since I've seen you Miguel.

Miguel: oh Sophia I didn't notice you come in.

Sophia: who's the boy and the little pup?

Jason: I'm Jason. And this is my partner.

Void got closer to charlotte and it smelled her hand and he allowed her to pet his head.

Sophia: he's adorable I'm guessing that you're letting him walk around?

Jason: yeah he lives in my shadow and I have to let him out once in a while.

Miguel: anyway Jason you said that you had something to ask me?

Jason: yeah I want max and someone else to join me on a mission.

Miguel: why?

Jason: I kinda went too hard on the training and I want to make a positive impression on my juniors.

Miguel took some time to think about it and this couldn't hurt he knows that Jason is a smart kid so he wouldn't put the juniors in danger.

Miguel: yeah I get what you're saying sometimes teen get competitive and it's better to get rid of the train of thought. Alright fine you can take max as for the other person you will have to ask them.

Sophia: actually this might be a good opportunity for someone in the backup division to join you.

Miguel: are you serious?

Sophia: yeah the backup division might not have as much attention but they are still exorcist with potential.

Miguel: true i was a part of the back up division for some time until now when I was a teen.

Jason: well thanks for accepting my request I'll get out of your hair.

With that Jason walked away along with void leaving the adults alone.

The two were in an awkward silence until Sophia decided to break the ice.

Sophia: so how have you been?

Miguel I'm doing fine.

The two started to walking together in the medical building while passing some doctors.

Sophia: how's mono don't tell you got rid of him.

A purple light appeared in Sophia's shoulder and when the light vanished a odd looking owl sat on her shoulder with short arms and wings and a long tail like that of a fish.

Sophia: yeah I figured Miguel isn't the type to just throw you away.

Miguel: I will one day.

Mono: no you won't because you love me too much and plus I'm good power enhancement that's why you are considered one of the strongest because of little old me.

Miguel just ignored the talking dragon bird and took out a vaping stick.

Sophia noticed and took a few steps back not because of Miguel smoking but something else.

He put down his mask exposing his mouth and chin and Sophia saw that he still has the scar on his neck.

He took a swig of it and when he breathed out instead of normal smoke it was purple.

a fly was flying around Miguel and the moment the moment the smoke passed it the fly started to melt in a grotesque way.

Sophia saw it and she remembered why Miguel wears a mask it wasn't to hide his face it was to prevent people from getting hurt by his poisonous breath.

Miguel went on a mission to investigate kidnapping by cults.

When he found the main base he took everycultist down but one who was pretending to be dead got the jump on him when he was wore out and slid his throat.

Luckily a backup crew managed to find him and take him for medical treatment.

They had to replace his throat with a new one since his was completely cut.

Thanks to freya's hand made drugs and along with other doctors.

They managed to replace Miguel's throat for a new one.

The medical department takes captured lost souls and they used their bodies to make medicines prosthetics in case an exorcist gets badly injured.

And they had to replace Miguel's throat for a suitable replacement and unfortunately the poisonous one was the only that was a perfect match for him.

He was in a coma due to his body losing a lot of blood and over exposure to drugs and his body needed to adapt to the new throat replacement.

It took 2 weeks for him to recover and understandably he was mad about his condition and he caused a few accidental deaths.

Freya developed specialized vape that allows Miguel to release the his smoke since if he doesn't let it out he started to cough violently.

The vape absorb all the buildup smoke and it stores it and when Miguel lets out his smoke the effect is reduced to only flies are in danger of it and the stick has a mechanism that allows Miguel to let out the smoke out of it so it also a deadly weapon.

Miguel at first locked himself away and he went into a self destructive act luckily freya who was a close friend of him finally convinced him to got to therapy and go to rehabilitation.

It took 4 weeks but Miguel improved and he got back to being the exorcist defective.

Miguel: Sophia.

She snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Miguel.

Sophia: oh sorry I spaced out were you saying something?

Miguel: i was asking on who is the person you want to go with max and Jason?

Sophia: this boy is named mako Mathew he was part of Sonia's oni delinquent group who signed up to be an exorcist instead of a scout.

Miguel: how exactly did you run into him?

Sophia: well he was about to get killed by a hoard of lost souls but I got there just in time to save him and I took her under my wing for a month.

Miguel: I see so how is he in terms of combat.

Sophia: he uses a twin pistols and he's good at hand to hand combat.

Miguel: like Bonnie huh? What's his ability?

Sophia: solidity manipulation.

Miguel: go on.

Sophia: well he can manipulate the solid state of something and make them as soft enough that it's like water

Miguel: I see this boy might be a valuable asset in the future.

Sophia: no doubt about that.

Sophia looked at Miguel who put away his vaping stick and she got closer to him grabbed his hand but Miguel put his hand in his pocket before she could lock hands with him.

Sophia had a sad smile on her face when that happened.

Sophia: (so you still feel like that our thing can't work anymore huh?)
