Chapter two

Chapter Two

Tara POV

I bent and picked up the box before storming off, trying to get a cab home.

After what seemed like forever, I finally got home and plumped myself on my bed. I didn't even bother taking off my clothes. I was already so stressed out from everything that had happened.

I deliberated on what Natalie said, and it hurt me to my guts, because she was saying the truth.

This was one of my fears. I knew how long it took me to get such a position at Kenzie Tech after searching for over months and nothing to show for it.

And now, I've finally lost it again when I least expected it. If my boss didn't get drunk and make out with me at the office last night, all of these wouldn't have happened. The most surprising part of it is him putting all of the blame on me by getting me fired!

I tried catching a nap when I heard the ringing of my phone. I mumbled inaudible words to myself as I sluggishly picked up my bag that lay beside me and pulled my phone out of it.

I felt a little bit happy the moment I saw who the caller was.

It was a good friend of mine, Becca and I explained the whole ordeal. She seemed even more upset, but I let her know I was feeling better.

" Do not worry, Tara. I'll support you in searching for a new job but first, I'm coming over. We've got somewhere to go."

There's certainly no stopping Becca whenever she wanted to show me somewhere or take me out. I knew her better than to try to tell her no now.

I had my bath and began ransacking through my wardrobe searching for a beautiful dress to put on. After several minutes of searching, I finally settled for a knee length black gown that hugged all of my curves. The up was fully covered with none of my cleavages on view. This was just the way I liked it. Loves being decent.

Once I finished dressing up, I was about sitting down when I heard my doorbell rang out loudly. I knew almost immediately that it was definitely Becca.

I stuttered to the door and pulled it open .

Becca pushed her way in almost immediately with heavy bags on her both hands. She sank them into my bed.

Of course, how could I forget? She always took her time to get me dressed again, making me feel like my fashion choices were poor. But I was grateful anyway. She was such a good friend.

There were beautiful dresses, jewelry and shoes in the bag she brought.

Becca has a wealthy boyfriend who spoils her with money and gifts, so she has nothing to worry about. Not like me who doesn't even have a job nor a boyfriend. I guess I'm from a different planet because I'm obviously different from everyone.

How could a 24 year old lady not have a boyfriend? Isn't that a shame?

I reluctantly pulled off my gown and wore the one she bought. I stared at it and just as I had thought, the gown was on my thighs. It wasn't even up to the top of my knee.

" Oh my God this looks really beautiful on you, Tara" Becca squealed loudly as she used her hands to twirl me around like an item.

No doubt the gown looks beautiful but it opens a lot of my cleavages. It's a strapless gown that hugged my curves perfectly well and has stones all over its body.

I complained, but she made me wear them anyway. So harsh!

I reluctantly wore heels and took hold of the stoned purse. She shoved me into one of the chairs in front of my dressing mirror. I saw her pick up one of the pieces of jewelry. It's a necklace as she knots it around my neck. Of course, I was made to wear it too.

After what seemed like forever, she was finally done with the make over and I just couldn't recognize my own reflection in the mirror.

Within a few minutes, we were outside the house and we slid into Becca's car. Her boyfriend was the one who had gotten it for her on her birthday last year. The guy was really good at spoiling her with every damn thing she wants and I'm so happy for her.

I'm happy he changed her life so much. Becca was also shrugging just the way I am. She has a younger sister and a mom she's taking good care of and her salary wasn't really doing justice to all of the expenses she had on the ground.

Luckily, she bumped into her boyfriend Jay Thompson at the mall and at that moment, the guy took a liking to her. They had exchanged numbers, went for dates and slowly they turned into a couple.

She noticed how sad I was and offered to help me get a job through her boyfriend, and I was more than grateful. If only she knew I was lost in thoughts.

" So tell me, where are we headed? You didn't even bother telling me about it, Becca.,"

And secondly, I just noticed Becca was casually dressed and this made me even more curious. She spent a lot of time getting me ready and yet, she wasn't looking the same.

" I guess you've just noticed, Tara. But don't worry, we'll arrive in a few minutes and you're going to see for yourself." She blurted out, smiling like someone who had won some lottery.

I rolled my eyes. If she wasn't my childhood friend I trusted so much, I would have flung myself out of the running car, trying to save my life.

I didn't bother asking any other questions as I relaxed properly on the seat hoping to get this over with soon and get all of these loads and make over out of my fragile body.

Finally, she pulled over at an expensive restaurant.

" Tara, we are here but I wouldn't be going inside with you." I suddenly heard Becca's voice beside me, jolting me out of my daydreaming of the restaurant.

"Why not?" I asked, alarmed this time around. I knew I shouldn't have let her take me out like this.

" Tara, please promise me you won't get mad. It took me so much to think of doing this for you, Tara, so, promise me you won't get angry and storm out of here?" Becca asked and I had the urge to scoff at her ridiculous question.

I definitely would storm off here if she ends up Telling me something I don't wish to hear about.

"I am not making such a promise, Becca. Just go on and tell me what I need to know." I uttered and I heard and sigh.

"Alright, I will tell you now. The thing is, I actually brought you here for a date."

"What!"
