Chapter three

TARA'S POV

As soon as I walked into the restaurant, my nerves were in a frenzy and I began to regret my action. Why did I even agree to this stupid date?

I replayed our last conversation in my mind as I began to figure out the table I was headed to.

I could see a sheet of paper neatly placed on the top of every table and numbers were written on it. I walked past the tables searching for the number thirteen Becca had spoken about.

Afterwards, I saw it at the end of the wide hall. The table was at the window side and a man tucked in a black tuxedo suit sat alone on it, his gaze probably on his phone as he was busy looking down.

I strode closer to the table before muttering. " Hello, are you my date?" I asked almost immediately as he brought up his head to glance at me.

" It's you! Tara Donna, right?" He asked and stood up from his seat.

I nodded my head before muttering a 'yes'. He quickly stretched forth his hand for a handshake which I reluctantly accepted.

The guy in front of me was looking so handsome. His black shining hair was neatly trimmed and combed to the back. His eyebrows were curved perfectly and his lips, they were pink and inviting.

" You're looking more beautiful than you're in the pictures, Tara." He complimented while running his eyes all over my body.

I smiled, blushing hard " Thanks for the compliment Mr…" I drawed since I don't really know the name yet.

" Dammy Rohagan. That's my name Tara." He helped me out by introducing himself and I nod my head at him.

" Please have your seat." He let go of my hand and pulled out one of the chairs for me to sit on. I sat down muttering my thanks to him.

" You're always welcome, beautiful."

He grinned and had his own seat. I was blushing all over. No doubt the guy was good at flattering a lady.

" So, for starters, what would you want to have?"

He motioned towards the menu on the table and I quickly picked it up, running my eyes through it.

All this while, I could literally feel his gaze on me but acted blindly to it.

" Here, I'll just have pepper spaghetti and chicken sauce."

A waiter made his way towards our table at the exact moment and took our order.

"Their services here look really great" I couldn't help but blurt it out to Dammy.

"Yes it is"

He smiled right back at me.

" So Tara, I would really love to get to know you better"

Dammy uttered, staring intently into my face.

" Sure, what would you want to know about me?" I asked back, staring at him.

" What do you do for a living?" Dammy asked and at that moment, I felt blood drained out of my face as I remembered I don't even have something to do for now.

I scratched the nape of my neck thinking of what to say. But then, I decided to take the bull by its horn.

" I worked as a personal assistant but I was fired by my boss this morning." I muttered and I should see the surprise etched on his face. Probably he wasn't expecting me to be beautiful and then jobless. I guess that would be a turn off for him.

" Oh wow, your boss must be so dumb to fire such a beautiful and gorgeous lady." He uttered, not taking his eyes away from me. I was gobsmacked to hear those words coming from his mouth. I wasn't really expecting him to say those words to me. I had thought he might have a turn off.

" Do you not really mind me being jobless?" I asked, staring intently at him.

I heard him scoff " Why should I mind that, Tara? I mean, I have every resource to take good care of you if you would likely become my woman, so I don't really care about you working." He explained and at that moment, the waiter's came over with our orders.

They had it neatly arranged at our fronts and just the aroma coming from it, had me salivating.

I had almost forgotten all about what Dammy had said earlier. I was blushing all red and thanked the stars. The waiter's had arrived at that very moment. Otherwise, I won't had made a fool out of myself for blushing so much at mere words.

We settled into our meals and the conversation was on hiatus.

Damn it, what's wrong with me? I'm I already falling so quickly for him? No, that's never possible. But, there's a saying that there's love at first sight. How true was that? I thought inwardly as I picked up my cutleries, ready to dig into my mouth watering meal.

" Dammy, you've known so much about me already but, I'm yet to know about you yet." I uttered, sparing him a glance away from my meal. He smiled and wipe his mouth before saying,

" What would you like to know about me, Tara? I'm all ready to give you an answer to all your questions." He said , now staring intently at me.

" What do you do for a living?" I asked him and could see the smile that crossed his lips.

" Well Tara, I'm the CEO of Brand's Corporation company."

He uttered and my eyes grew wide in amusement. I've been seated with the CEO of the top clothing brand in California? I guess the reason he had smiled earlier was because he had expected me to know who he was already.

How would I know him when I'm not always current on social platforms? Why didn't Becca inform me about this before allowing me to make a joke out of myself. Does Becca really think such an influential man would be interested in a boring low class woman as me? She must really be kidding me right now.

I guess he saw how uncomfortable I became, so he reassured me that he didn't mind, and it made me feel better.

"Let's return to our meal." He uttered and I succumbed.

After what seemed like forever, we were finally done having our meals with a few conversations along the way and all was brought up by Dammy as I couldn't bring myself to ask him any other further questions.

Once he was done settling the bills, we made our way out of the restaurant. I was surprised to see everywhere had become so dark. I never knew we had spent so much time there, discussing.

I followed closely behind him as he made his way towards his car.

How could someone like me compare to this man? I thought inwardly as he pulled my side of the door open for me to slide in, which I did before muttering my thanks. He turned around and hopped in before driving out into the busy streets of California.

He eventually dropped me off at my place, collected my number, then zoomed off. I couldn't wait for him to call me again.
