Chapter four

 Chapter four

RYAN'S POV

Dammy arrived at my penthouse. My gatekeeper pulled the gate open for him to drive in.

Once he had parked at the parking lot, he came out and made his way towards the entrance door. Just before he'd rang the doorbell, the door was flung open and I popped out to startle him as always.

" Ryan ,You startled me!" Dammy snapped at me and he chuckled.

"I already saw you drive in through my CCTV footage and decided to come welcome you at the door."

" You still haven't stopped your nasty attitude." Dammy uttered and pushed past him into his well furnitured apartment.

" Whatever, Dammy. And you still haven't changed from snooping around someone's house."

I retorted back and Dammy was already at my mini bar, taking glasses and a bottle of red wine.

Dammy scoffed. " If I could remember properly, this is my best friend's house and I've got every right to snoop around. Don't you think, CEO of Kenzie Tech?" Dammy asked, having a smirk plastered on his face.

I scoffed loudly without saying a word as we sat down on the couch, while Dammy began opening the red wine and turned some quantity into each of the glasses before passing one to Ryan.

" I missed you man." Ryan suddenly blurted out, taking a sip from his glass of wine.

"Same here, man. How have you been? How have you been coping as the CEO of Kenzie Tech? A lot of things on you." Dammy uttered, teasing me.

I rolled my eyes at him.

I went on to explain everything that happened, both the bad and the ugly.

And I also explained the one night stand with Tara. I was still very much ashamed of my actions.

He attacked me, but I did my best to defend myself.

I let him know that I got her fired, and he flared up immediately, he didn't find my actions funny one bit. Typical Dammy.

" You did what? Ryan! That's so inhuman of you. First, you had a thing with her against her wish and also, you made her jobless! I mean, that's too much for someone to take in. I'm definitely not in support of you doing such a thing."

" Just stop it, Dammy. What would you have me do? That's like a stain to my name. How could I, Ryan McKenzie, do a thing with my worker? I won't be able to keep seeing her face everyday. It's much better I did that to her, Dammy. There's nothing you're going to tell me."

I uttered with a scoff.

I made sure it ended there, then changed the topic of conversation because I was tired of the attack.

"You don't seem like you're coming directly from the airport"

" Well, there's this lady I went on a date with, she's one hell of a beauty. When I saw her picture on her best friend's phone, I fell in love with her almost immediately, Ryan."

Dammy said, his eyes twinkling as the lights shone on them.

" Wow, this is like the first time I'm hearing you say these sorts of words, Dammy. You must really love her so much."

I said, watching my friend's grinning face.

" I'm sure I do, Ryan. The date with her today was perfect. I enjoyed every bit of our chit chats."

Dammy said as he finally took a sip from his wine.

" That's so nice. I guess you're going to stop your playboy lifestyle now that you've finally fallen in love with a lady." Ryan teased, trying to know what he had in mind.

"Over a month now, I haven't been with a woman so, it's a gradual process. With her around me, I would definitely stop fully." Dammy said in assurance.

" Damn.. I'm the only one left out here but, it's fine. So tell me, what's her name and what family is she from?" I acted like I was sulking, earning a chuckle from him.

"Tara Donna, that's her name. That's all, nothing important. I like her, and that's all that matters"

With that he shoved all of his left out wine down his throat.

I couldn't believe my ears. He's talking about my ex assistant, the same girl I just fired and forcefully had sex with the night before. Life could be so cruel.

"Hey Ryan, why are you unusually quiet after I told you her name?"

Dammy asked, staring intently at me.

I placed a smile on my face immediately.

"I didn't say a word because I was waiting for you to be done turning yourself a drink."

I lied perfectly.

" Oh alright."

Dammy uttered not saying anything else.

I didn't know what to think anymore. If she happened to be the one, I am definitely not going to allow them to get together. After all, we already had a thing together and if she wants to date someone, it shouldn't be my best friend.

I made a mental note to find out if she's the same lady as his fired personal assistant. I wouldn't mind paying her a huge amount for her to stay away from my best friend.

"I want to take my leave now because I am tired. We will see when next I am around," Dammy said, breaking the silence.

"Okay"

I replied, leading him to the front door. He suddenly stopped in his tracks, and turned back to face me.

"Employ the personal assistant you fired back. That is an inhumane thing to do, and I am not in support of it. If you think you can't cope with seeing her face every day, you could take her to another department, not necessarily your office"

He said and walked out, not even caring to hear my reply.

I was speechless for some time and just stood there looking as his car reversed and pulled out of the gate. I went inside and went into my room. I took the remaining wine in the bottle he was drinking and poured myself a glass, pondering on what he said.

Should I really do it? Take her back? Is it really worth it? These are a few of the numerous thoughts that went through my head.

I was even starting to blame myself for being drunk that day and committing this crime. What if she decides to file a lawsuit against me?

I know she doesn't have the money to do so, but anything can happen. A friend who can meet with Dammy must be a rich friend.

A lawsuit at this moment will really tarnish the image of the company, and I don't think I would want my company to suffer for my actions.

This will give my rival companies an opening to come in and destroy this company. I really don't like that Bryan of a guy, and after losing the deal to him which leads to this chain of events, I now detest him more now.

I concluded that I would not assume anything yet until I find out if it was really her, but deep down in me, I already knew the answer to my question. I just dreaded my best friend's reaction when he learned the truth.
