Chapter 62 INVESTIGATE

CHEOL’s POV

I paced back and forth in the living room while Amy sat on the sofa bouncing her knees up and down, telling me the whole story.

I had never felt this anxious and angry at the same time before in my life. Why would Lucy beat the absolute shit out of her own stepdaughter? Her husband’s own flesh and blood.

“When you left that day, she was attacked and beaten.” Amy’s voice cracked and her eyes were filled with worries. “And she begged me not to tell anyone.”

My head snapped at her. “We are paying you to do your job, Amy! Why won’t you tell us what’s happening?”

She sniffed and sighed. “I know. But I had to follow Stella. She trusted me and I don’t want to break my promise to her.“

“But you just broke your promise to me and dad!” I rasped.

“Stella is more important to me than anybody else right now, Sir. She’s a very precious girl,” she whispered. “I can give you back my salary if you want. I’m sorry Sir but I have to—“
