“Please be my date on Saturday night’s party…” Mr. Easton Gonzalez said after submitting the report I had written earlier. The yellow folder he was handing me back hung in the air as I stared at him in shock.
"Excuse me?" I shrieked, my gaze fixed on his. "I'm not going on a date with you!" I exclaimed, glaring at my boss.
“Don’t worry Miss Bell, it’s a fake date…” my boss informed me and I felt like I was splashed with cold water on the face.
Easton Gonzalez, the CEO of Gonzalez Steel Manufacturing and Industries asked his personal assistant Chloe Bell to be his fake date on their company’s Silver Anniversary to annoy and upset his ex-wife who cheated on him with his best friend. He chose Chloe out of all the girls around him because he knew Chloe wasn’t like the other girls who were crazy about him.

I was nearing the end of the dishwashing chore, but I was taking my time with it. Because of my boss, I had the impression that I didn’t want to go back to the living room quite yet.


I wasn't expecting him to flirt with me, so I was caught off guard by his advances. Perhaps this was just one of his rehearsals for the celebration that will be taking place on Saturday. But it felt real. I don't think he's just putting on an act.


I had to give myself some time to gather my wits because the things he's doing to me were driving me nuts, like the way he's getting closer to me in the dining room, here in the kitchen---I don’t get it.
