What I was seeing was so unbelievable that I had to blink my eyes repeatedly making sure that I wasn’t sleeping. Because if this was all just a dream, I don’t want to wake up.

Easton made another attempt to move his fingers, but he’s still unable to do so since he’s so weak. While tears gathered in the corners of my eyes, I gently stroked his hand and gave him a gentle smile.

‘‘I thought… I thought…’’ I swallowed the lump in my throat. ‘‘Thank God, you woke up…’’

He regarded me with his intense eyes for a moment before closing them and then slowly opening them to lock his gaze with mine. ‘‘I... I had a dream,’’ he croaked, his voice as feeble as his eyes. His deep voice filled me with longing and instantly tears flooded my eyes. ‘‘And there... you called me… Numerous times. You were calling... my name out there. You were telling me to wake up…’’
