Curled up on the master bed, Alohi was crying her heart out. It was her tried and tested method to vent off emotions.
After sharing her concerns with Miss Cuddles (the teddy bear that her late mother gifted her), she was used to behave like nothing happened before.
Now she was waiting for her best friend’s response, to whom she sent a detailed message about yesterday’s events.
From her child hood, Alohi was an introvert because she didn’t get the exposure to the common world. As an heiress, she received basic education for higher officials, resulting in no access to rest of the world.
She went to school at twelve years old age after shifting. In the small world of Raven and herself, Ashley came uninvited as a kickass heroine.
She was the one to save Alohi from the school bullies and now, Alohi was expecting a solid solution from her.
After Alpha King’s lash out, Alohi’s newfound bravery went straight to Hell, rendering her speechless. Her mobile phone was confiscated, her room was locked with the guards standing outside.
Now, Raven was also doubting their rash decision, thinking about worse case scenarios.
“What will we do if Alpha Nathanial bullies us? He is such a dominating man, who will save us if he imprisoned us in his Pack?”
Alohi blocked her unhelpful wolf and fixed her blurry eyes on mobile screen, the one she bought secretly to use social media. Of course, her cell phone records were regularly monitored like her every movement, so Alohi availed this stealth method for luxury.
Suddenly, she heard the door creak and it revealed Ashley, who was gasping for breath.
She placed her hand on round belly and complained.
“Royal castle should have a lift. I have to take rest before climbing those countless stairs.”
Even in distress, Alohi’s lips curled up in a smile. Literally, their whole childhood was spent running around these stairs.
She left her teddy bear and hugged her, sobbing aguishly.
“Pick up your game, Luna. You are a married woman now.”
Ashley patted her back, encouraging her.
“I texted you about Alvin’s cheating and you are asking me about that contract marriage? Ashley, you are a stone hearted woman.”
“Your Royal father is arranging a Wedding Ceremony while you have already signed your marriage license. If you want to live, pack up your bags and leave silently. I have already planned everything. Azmath will change the guards at 5:00pm and escort you to our place.
As for the rest of the things, we will discuss them in detail later.”
Ashley handed her a paper of instructions, not believing the fact that Alohi’s room was sound proof.
Alohi packed her certificates, some cash and her work laptop with necessary clothes. She also gave her a sneak peak of morning’s meeting along with Alpha King’s betrayal and absurd reasoning.
“This is the truth of our society, Alohi. But whether we surrender or fight against it, it’s up to us.
You did the right thing. Your shut up call will enlighten that Alvin.”
Ashley had a long list of advices for Alohi but she decided to email them.
“Royal family is having a secret session in Alpha King’s chamber. I have to leave quickly. Your step-mother is a horrible person to deal with.”
She was about to leave when something important hit her mind.
“What about work, Alohi? Ae you going far away?”
Ashley got worried that she would lose their daily gathering at work.
“Nope, Alpha has allowed me to work. Besides, the Shadow Pack is two hours away from Royal Pack.”
Alohi texted her back with assuring smile, so Ashley left quietly.
…
Clock struck three in the evening when a maid came with snacks and juice.
She was expecting her family’s lash out instead of these snacks. Alohi had not eaten anything except yesterday’s alcohol, so she dug in.
After a heart meal, which was essential for much needed energy, Alohi began to feel uncomfortable.
“What’s happening to me?”
Raven was dead silent, her room started spinning around her. That was not after math of eating on empty stomach, Alohi was certain about it.
With her hazed vision, she was able to see her step-mother who was instructing someone.
“Wolfs-bane is really effective for traitors like her. Call on the Pack doctor, we need to inject the medicine immediately.”
Wolfs-bane? So her step-mother finally decided to get rid of her, but why was she calling a doctor? She was dying not sick then why would she need a doctor?
Alohi’s mind was blank, random queries were flooding with out proper answers. In sheer darkness, she was counting seconds till her death.
She felt a prickling sensation in her left arm: something cold was injected to her aching body.
“I have given her single dosage for conscious sedation. As her wolf is strong, I recommend another injection before Ceremony.
You can start preparations now, she can’t resist or raise her voice.”
“Can she understand what’s happening?”
Alohi’s eyes shot opened when she heard Alpha King’s cold voice. He was also supporting the Queen in this.
“Yes, Your Majesty. Princess has wolfs-bane in her system, so drug will effect gradually.”
Doctor excused himself after these details. Alohi saw her father’s furious face, his eyes blazing with raging fury.
“You were in need of something more than a lesson, Alohi. I am the King here, you can’t bring shame to my name.
Everything I did was for your own good. You deserve this punishment and you know it well.”
Alohi wanted to scream but her words died down in her mouth. Darkness took over her senses, pushing her to deep slumber…
