KATRINA'S P O V
The events of the previous night at Raymond’s house lingered in my mind, and I decided not to go to work because Cohen and Ella had already returned from their ‘‘business trip’’ abroad. But if Cohen required me to report to the office, then I would have no choice but to go.
It was a little after five in the afternoon when I decided to go out for a little walk because I needed to clear my mind about what was happening recently in my life.
The autumn breeze made me feel a little bit chilly. As I wrapped my feeble arms over my torso, I noticed that my body was noticeably colder than usual. The blue pants, cardigan, and scarf were not enough to keep the chill at bay.
As I strolled down the street, the air wafted of cinnamon, and the shops were now decked with orange leaves and pumpkins. I could hear people laughing all around me, clothed in thick jackets, boots, and scarves, as everything was spiced and supposed to be nice and warm.
