‘‘Are you sure about this?’’ I asked grandma as I helped her with packing her things into a small luggage. Even though she agreed that she would be going home with Maye, I still couldn't help but feel worried because she was now too far away from me.

It would take me over an hour to go to her house, so even if there was an urgent situation, I wouldn't be able to rush over there right away. I was continuing my efforts to persuade her to stay at my apartment. I feel more at ease if she’s staying close to me.

‘‘I'm really sure, sweetheart…’’ she uttered the words with a reassuring smile. ‘‘I don't care how persuasively you argue your point with me. I'm not going to change my mind. I have already explained my reasoning to you. Your grandpa won’t be happy if he finds out that I abandoned our house…’’
