The sound of a car engine bringing it to life finally roused me from my stuphor. Raising my head from the pillow, I squinted at the morning sunlight streaming through the windows, wincing when the motion set off my throbbing headache.

‘‘Shit…’’ I groaned, the inside of my mouth the consistency of cotton wool. Just how much did I drink last night? I searched my memory, and my eyes squinted, remembering Chosen driving me home while I was in a deep slumber. But I wondered who brought me here to my room, because after I fell asleep in Chosen’s car, the next thing that happened came up blank in my brain.

I pulled myself up, careful not to jolt my head too much. I glanced at the clock and I saw that it was almost 12 noon. Thankfully it was Saturday, which meant that I didn’t have to go to work today.
