587. Battle for the Mother Box.

Flashpoint Universe-1, outside Wayne Manor.

Wayne Manor was now nothing more than a pile of ruins.

Ever since Steppenwolf led an endless horde of Parademons to this location, the grand battle for the Mother Box had erupted. Nearly every superhero had joined the fight.

Fortunately, Wayne Manor was massive, and the battlefield had been set in a remote forest. Otherwise, this ancient estate, passed down for generations, would have been completely obliterated today.

Steppenwolf knew his mission well—this surprise assault was critical, and there was no need for unnecessary words. His objective was clear: kill every enemy in sight and retrieve the last Mother Box.

Thus, the moment he arrived via Boom Tube, he was placed right next to the Mother Box—only to be immediately met by Black Adam, Shazam, and the others, who had long been prepared.

The Flash, Barry Allen, was the fastest to react. The moment the Boom Tube opened, he grabbed the Mother Box and bolted.

With the Flash's speed, once he started running, almost no one could catch him.

His sole responsibility was to take the Mother Box and keep running for the entirety of the battle—never stopping until the war was over.

This was part of Batman's meticulously crafted plan before he left. As long as the Flash kept moving, not even Steppenwolf himself, let alone the Parademons, would be able to catch up to him.

This strategy ensured the Mother Box's safety while also forcing Steppenwolf to engage them in direct combat.

Without the Mother Box slowing them down, Black Adam and Shazam could unleash their full strength, turning this battle into Steppenwolf's worst nightmare.

To make sure this plan worked, old Bruce Wayne had activated Wayne Enterprises' global supply network, setting up food stations in major cities worldwide.

If the Flash ever got too exhausted while running, he could stop at these supply points to replenish his energy. Given his speed, even a brief stop for food wouldn't allow anyone to catch him.

Simply put—the goal was for Barry Allen to complete a marathon around the world before the war ended.

The plan was flawless, and everything unfolded exactly as Batman had predicted.

The moment Steppenwolf arrived and saw the Mother Box disappear before his eyes, he instantly decided to retreat through the Boom Tube.

He had anticipated the possibility of this being a trap, and reality confirmed it—these humans had long been prepared to fight him.

With the Mother Box taken, staying here was pointless. Just as Steppenwolf was about to leave, an impatient Black Adam launched a devastating punch.

Steppenwolf barely had time to raise his arm to block before he was sent crashing into a wall, his massive body being forced backward by sheer force.

The Mother Box had been stored underground, and to ensure there were no restraints, Black Adam went all out—smashing Steppenwolf straight from below the surface to the open battlefield above.

A thunderous boom echoed from underground. The ground trembled violently as if an earthquake had struck, causing nearby trees to shake and nearly collapse.

In the next instant, the ground split open, and with a deafening explosion, Black Adam burst out, carrying Steppenwolf with him into the sky.

A flurry of punches rained down, leaving Steppenwolf momentarily dazed. However, he quickly regained his composure, grabbing both of Black Adam's arms.

"Insignificant worm! You dare defy the will of The Great Darkness?!"

"I bow to no one's will!" Black Adam growled in defiance.

At that moment, a streaking figure shot toward them—it was none other than Shazam, who had followed Black Adam.

Seeing that Black Adam's attack had been blocked, Shazam wasted no time. He flew forward and unleashed a devastating kick straight toward Steppenwolf's head.

Steppenwolf barely managed to tilt his head, but the powerful blow struck his shoulder instead. In the blink of an eye, he was sent crashing down, smashing into the ground and leaving a massive crater.

"Stay on him! We can't let him enter the Boom Tube! We have to end this here and now!" Black Adam shouted at Shazam before speeding toward Steppenwolf himself.

Black Adam's concerns were valid. As soon as Steppenwolf was knocked away, he instinctively attempted to summon another Boom Tube. He knew full well that these two wielders of godly power were no weaker than he was.

Had the Mother Box still been here, things might be different. But with it gone, staying and fighting to the death served no purpose. However, just as the Boom Tube was about to form, a figure lunged at Steppenwolf.

"Where do you think you're going? Your life is mine!"

It was Hippolyta, the Amazonian Queen, sword in hand, having waited below for this exact moment.

Seeing Steppenwolf attempting to flee, she seized the opportunity and struck.

Her sword slashed downward, forcing Steppenwolf to dodge rather than take the hit head-on. In doing so, he stepped out of the Boom Tube's range.

Hippolyta hadn't left Themyscira empty-handed. While she didn't wield the Lasso of Truth, the gods had granted her more than one divine weapon.

The sword she carried now was the legendary Diamond Blade, an artifact once wielded by the demigod Perseus—who had used it to sever Medusa's head.

This sword possessed the power to slay gods. Though its full might depended on the wielder's strength, its true potential could only be unleashed by the gods themselves.

Even so, it remained an exceptionally dangerous weapon. In Hippolyta's hands, it was more than capable of wounding deities—and beheading Steppenwolf would not be a challenge.

This was precisely why Steppenwolf had no intention of taking a direct hit. If he still had his battle-ax, he wouldn't have been afraid. But now, unarmed, he had no choice but to evade.

After dodging several of Hippolyta's strikes, Steppenwolf glanced up to see Black Adam and Shazam charging at him again.

The four combatants clashed in a chaotic brawl, evoking the legendary image of Three Z-Fighters Against Jiren. But in truth, Steppenwolf was the one being overwhelmed.

Against two top-tier powerhouses, plus an Amazonian queen wielding a god-slaying blade, even Steppenwolf—one of the New Gods—was quickly losing ground.

As Steppenwolf was being battered, Parademons began swarming out of the Boom Tube.

The moment they emerged, they shrieked and dove straight toward Black Adam and the others.

As bio-engineered war machines, Parademons knew no fear. Their only objective was to free Steppenwolf from the enemy's grasp—no matter the cost.

The three who were relentlessly attacking Steppenwolf suddenly found themselves under heavy fire from the Parademons. Beams of energy, like a torrential downpour, rained down from their weapons, covering the entire battlefield.

Black Adam and Shazam, as divine beings, were naturally unafraid of these energy blasts, but the sheer volume of firepower was enough to make even them feel pain.

Shazam swiftly positioned himself in front of Hippolyta, blocking the laser rounds aimed at her, while Black Adam kept his eyes locked on Steppenwolf, ignoring the Parademons entirely.

Behind Shazam, Hippolyta clenched her silver teeth. "Wizard, don't worry about me! Kill Steppenwolf and avenge my fallen sisters of Themyscira!"

Hippolyta was not a god. Though the Amazons possessed lifespans rivaling the deities, their bodies lacked the divine resilience. If she were struck by these laser blasts, she would be at risk of death.

Hearing her words, Shazam refused to comply. Without hesitation, he turned his head and raised his hand. In an instant, a dragon of lightning burst forth from his palm, its terrifying electric surge ripping through the Parademons, tearing them to shreds.

But the Parademons Shazam had destroyed were merely a drop in the ocean. Countless others flapped their wings and swarmed forward in a suicidal assault.

At this critical moment, a golden light exploded into view. A massive symbol of life materialized into a barrier, blocking the Parademons from advancing.

"Shazam, Your Majesty, leave these creatures to us! Focus on taking down Steppenwolf!"

Doctor Fate's figure emerged from the void, and as his words fell, more figures stepped out of the radiant glow.

With golden, metallic wings spread wide, Hawkman soared into the sky. Wielding his mighty flail, he was the first to charge forward, cutting through the Parademons with unstoppable force.

Nearby, amidst a brilliant green light, an anti-aircraft cannon rapidly materialized. Green Lantern sat atop the construct, raining down fire on the Parademons filling the sky.

On the ground, countless Parademons surged toward Hippolyta's position.

But before they could get close, three men stepped in to block their path. The leading Parademon raised its weapon, only to be met with a devastating punch.

It hadn't even had time to react before it was sent flying backward at incredible speed, crashing heavily into the middle of its own ranks.

"We'll handle the ground battle. Doctor Mid-Nite, Wildcat, spread out the front line! We can't let these creatures interfere with Black Adam and the others!"

Hourman had already activated his Miraclo serum. For the next hour, he possessed unparalleled strength—strong enough to even wrestle Shazam to a standstill.

"Understood!" Doctor Mid-Nite had no objections.

Wildcat let out a cold chuckle before leaping forward, pouncing on the nearest Parademon like a predator. Without missing a beat, he lunged at another.

The Justice Society was now assembled in full force. They all understood the stakes of this battle—it wasn't just about winning; it was about the survival of Earth itself.

Failure was not an option. Victory was the only path forward!
