638. The Identity of the Outsider!

To be honest, for most multiverses, the Hell dimension is a very important component.

In purely physical universes, when people die, their souls mostly fade away over time, eventually turning into pure natural energy that nourishes the entire cosmos.

But in supernatural universes, the soul energy of intelligent beings is a very mysterious and highly potent energy source. To control it, one must rely on small dimensions attached to the real world.

The Hell is such an independent dimension.

After death, souls are taken by Hell, becoming currency and power sources for demons. This is a theme seen in both the Marvel and DC universes.

Because soul energy is extremely powerful, it is fought over by various deities—whether from the Hell, Heaven, or even the death gods of different divine realms—they all reach into Earth to seize forces beyond mortal control.

Generally, only universes with supernatural energy possess these things. But there are exceptions—for example, in the universe of The Boys, there is no Hell or Heaven; everything depends purely on ordinary matter.

In the universe Petra came from, Alex did not sense the presence of Hell. Aside from that unknown entity felt during Petra's resurrection, Alex found nothing unusual.

But now, in the Logan universe, he suddenly sensed the aura of the Hell, which stirred an odd feeling deep inside him.

"Could it be the work of that old bastard Mephisto?"

Alex pondered for a moment but quickly dismissed the thought.

"No, Mephisto is the most cowardly, and so are the other demon lords. They wouldn't do anything without benefit."

"Master, don't forget—this timeline is destined to be destroyed, and not just here; countless branches of time around this timeline are all on the eve of destruction,"

the voice of Miss Minutes echoed inside Alex's mind, reminding him.

"At that time, with so many lives inside and out, so many countless souls, wouldn't those demon lords want nothing more than these?"

Hearing this, Alex nodded thoughtfully, then smiled lightly and sighed.

"Don't forget, lady, we have met Mephisto before. That guy isn't as stupid as you think. You're right, there are indeed countless quality souls waiting for him here, but would he really dare come and take them?"

"Years ago, when Deadpool slaughtered the Marvel universe, those demon lords were terrified of the contamination and fell apart, even dimensions severed from the real world."

"And now, this place is almost a breeding ground for contamination. If they dare to come wade into this mess, aren't they just asking for trouble?"

Hearing Alex's words, Miss Minutes considered and agreed.

"That's true, I was thinking about this too simply."

When it comes to matters of the multiverse on a grand scale, Miss Minutes admitted her perspective wasn't as broad or as detailed as Alex's.

Alex just waved his hand lightly. "That's not important. What matters is, whoever has come to this universe must possess the ability to connect with the Hell."

"Hell—is that Hell?" Petra curiously looked at Alex. She noticed her mind was becoming more open and able to accept new things quickly.

If someone had told her before that gods exist, and there is Heaven and Hell, Petra would have slapped them without hesitation.

But now, after meeting Alex, Petra felt as if a door to a new world had opened. Whatever Alex said was true—if he said it, it was real.

Not just Hell—if the Creator God came personally, Petra would not be the least bit surprised.

"The Hell is much like the Hell you understand, except that Hell is not just one place, but countless. Many demons and gods each rule their own territory, dividing the souls of various worlds."

Alex casually explained, then activated his Wizard's Eye.

"From now on, no need to distinguish foreign world's soil and dust. With the aura of the Hell, finding those outsiders will be incredibly easy."

With that, the shadow beneath Alex's feet suddenly began to writhe.

Petra immediately sensed something was wrong, but before she could react, eight eerie black figures crawled out from Alex's shadow.

Each of these eight monsters looked different and terrifying beyond measure. With every breath, they exhaled thick black smoke, and the air was filled with the smell of sulfur, making Petra feel uncomfortable all over.

"Wh-what is this?!"

Looking at those eight creatures radiating a dreadful aura, if it weren't for Alex being here, Petra probably would have turned and fled immediately.

"Don't be afraid. These are just a few demons I captured from other universes," Alex said softly, stroking the closest one, arrogance personified.

"They are the Seven Deadly Sins and the Demon Sabbac. Originally, they were powerful demons capable of destroying civilizations, but now, they're just my fragments."

Alex smiled slightly.

"These demons are very sensitive to the aura of Hell. With them around, finding that unknown outsider becomes much easier."

As soon as he finished speaking, the eight demons instantly turned into shadows and scattered, vanishing from Petra's sight in the blink of an eye, rushing off in different directions.

Seeing this, Petra instinctively stepped back half a pace, putting some distance between herself and Alex.

There was no helping it—the impression of demons in people's minds was just too negative. Anyone seeing someone controlling demons would instinctively want to keep their distance.

Alex was used to this. After revealing part of his abilities, he already knew the consequences, so he said nothing more and acted as if he hadn't noticed.

"Let's go. I think it won't be long before we get results."

Sure enough, Alex and Petra didn't have to wait long.

As they slowly walked forward like taking a stroll, the distant aftermath of a battle suddenly reached their ears. It seemed that one of the eight demons had gotten into a fight with that outsider.

Hearing the noise, the two exchanged a glance and simultaneously quickened their pace, rushing swiftly in that direction.

Before long, after Alex passed through a dense thicket again, a lake appeared in his view.

The bright crescent moon reflected in the center of the lake, casting a silvery light across the land, eerie yet bright.

At the edge of the lake, two oddly shaped figures were locked in a fierce and indecisive battle with a Demon Sabbac.

One of them had the appearance of a werewolf, moving extremely agilely. The other was a blonde woman whose eyes glowed blue. She held a large ghostly blue sword and was continuously striking at the Demon Sabbac.

The woman's roar and the beast's howl became the only dominant sounds here. Their fearless and fierce momentum even made Petra involuntarily click her tongue in admiration.

"So these two are—" Petra pursed her lips and couldn't help but speak.

Alex watched the scene with great interest, a strange glint flashing in his eyes.

"Sure enough, Wolfsbane and Magik—members of the New Mutants squad."

"New Mutants?" Petra blinked, looking at the two fighters with curious eyes.

Although she herself was a mutant, Petra lacked any sensory ability to confirm their identities. Just judging by their powers alone, Petra found it hard to guarantee these two were part of the mutant race.

Mutant abilities indeed vary widely, but transforming completely into a giant wolf and wielding a giant energy sword were quite rare.

Besides, in Petra's memory, the X-Men never featured these two mutants, so she was a bit puzzled.

At that moment, Alex quietly explained.

"It's normal that you don't know them. Mutants, after all, span countless years and some of your fellow mutants might be unfamiliar. The two in front of us, one is Magik, the other is Wolfsbane—they're both members of the X-Men, part of the New Mutants team."

"I see." Petra nodded. Although she still felt a little confused, she quickly accepted the explanation.

After all, they were visitors from another parallel universe, so it wasn't surprising they had some strange abilities. Maybe in their universe, Professor X created a new team.

Unlike Petra's open-mindedness, a trace of curiosity sparked in Alex's mind.

In his memory, the New Mutants movie was supposed to tell the story of Magik and others when they were young. Why did this Magik look almost thirty?

More importantly, the New Mutants team should have five members in total. Besides Magik and Wolfsbane, there should be Mirage, Cannonball, and Sunspot. Why were only these two here?

Just as Alex was pondering, the battle situation suddenly changed drastically.

A pure beam of light suddenly burst forth from the other side of the forest, knocking the Demon Sabbac back several steps. Then, a strange shadow abruptly rose from the ground, binding the demon's legs.

Seizing this opportunity, Magik did not hesitate at all. She leapt high into the air, and the light in her hand suddenly exploded with immense power, slashing down toward the Shabak's head.

Watching the sudden light and shadow from afar, Alex couldn't help but relax his furrowed brows.

Cloak and Dagger?
