TRAINING DAY (SHADE)

TWO MONTHS AGO.....

Penguin City - Evening

"Okay so I can fly and I am strong....is that it?" Ruby asked as she stood on the roof of the tallest building in Penguin City and observed what was happening below. Shade was behind her and they were in their armors.

"Yeah I think that's pretty much it....you're basically a Kennedy with wings 🤣" Shade said as she giggled.

"I will become way stronger" Ruby replied

"Yeah it is possible.....to grow stronger but it takes a lot of dedication and sacrifice" Shade said as she leaped off the building and flew into the skies by shooting fire with great pressure out of her two hands and legs, kind of like a jetpack ....deep into the clouds she went

Ruby waited and watched.

"Follow me....wanna show you something" Shade spoke at the top of her voice from the clouds.

"Uhhh I don't think I can fly that high Shade.....I just got the hang of it today don't you think I should..." Ruby wanted to finish her statement but was interrupted by Shade.

"I'm serious....you don't want to miss this" Shade interrupted.

Ruby stepped backwards in preparation to launch herself but she was still intimidated by the height.

"Come on 😐" Shade pestered

"Okay.... here goes nothing" Ruby muttered and leaped off the building too. She went down at great speed and she screamed for her dear life and she regretted leaping of the building.

"Ahaaaaaaaaa!😬" She screamed in fear

She was about to hit the ground really hard when she stabilized and started to float.

"Woah 😳"

She flew into the skies, deep into the clouds in search of Shade.

"Shade!" She called out as she searched through the clouds.

"Where are you Shade?" Ruby asked as she tried to look around while floating in the air.

"Up here!" Shade replied

Ruby spotted Shade's fire above the clouds so she flew higher and higher till she reached the highest point above the clouds, she saw shade facing the setting sun. It was much more clearer and beautiful witnessing it up close without the atmosphere blocking it off.

"Up here.....my powers are supposed to be weaker" Shade said as she created a tiny ball of fire with her fingers and sustained it for a while before it died down.

"Why is that?" Ruby asked

"The higher we go into the sky, the more the oxygen reduces. And fire requires oxygen to burn at full power" Shade said.

"Yeah.... That's probably elementary science.... I'm not so good with academic books 🙄🙄" Ruby said in a disappointed tone.

"But up here, my powers are stronger than ever. I'm letting you in on a secret today Ruby. The sun acts as an infinite generator of vitamin D.....my Nuclear Soda requires Vitamin D and not oxygen to produce flames. So technically being closer to the source will make me stronger" Shade said as she conjured a gigantic ball of fire, it was the biggest Ruby had ever seen.

"Oh my 😲🔥" Ruby whispered as the fire grew in power and magnitude.

Shade cut down the fire and killed yhe the flames. She turned around and faced Ruby.

"Just like how you require food.....I require the sun" Shade concluded.

Ruby was speechless, she had never seen Shade create such an enormous amout of fire before.

"Since the arrival of the Nuclear Soda Stone.....the world has been changing and things that we once deemed impossible are now becoming possible. Superhumans appearing all of a sudden..... supervillains.... futuristic tech and smart brains....the world is changing and it needs protectors..... you're strong 😐 and you have the ability to become stronger....but no matter how strong you become, you'll always find someone stronger....someone evil..... They might be closer than you think...." Shade said.

"Why are you telling me this?" Ruby asked.

" You wanna know why?" Shade replied with a question.

"Yes 🤚"

"Then fight me...if you win, I'll tell you something" Shade said with a smile on her face.

"What are the rules?" Ruby asked

"Make your opponent touch the ground and you win....use all means necessary" Shade replied still smiling.

"Don't you think we should hold back?" Ruby asked.

"My sister in the ground base has healing powers.... she could heal major injuries in seconds" Shade replied

"Consider it done" Ruby flew towards shade and raised her hand in hopes of landing a powerful blow to Shade's face but Shade caught the punch like it was feather.

Ruby's eyes widened in fear and surprise. Shade never said she had super strength.

"The vitamin D heightens all my abilities..... senses....strength....fire.....agility" Shade punched Ruby with so much ferocity and that sent her hurling down the earth like a fallen angel. She was about to hit the ground when she stabilized and peeled back up at insane speed.

She threw countless punches at Shade but Shade kept catching them and waited for the right opening

BAAM! One punch landed on Ruby's face and pushed her down again but she flew back up, she was gaining resistance.

SLAP! Two backhands to Ruby's face weakened her resolve.

"Shade isn't even using fire and she's doing fine...I need to get her away from her source of energy....I need to attack her from different locations at a speed she can't comprehend" Ruby muttered to herself.

Ruby pushed herself to her limits and flew at supersonic speed towards Shade and began to hit her from different directions.

"She is investing too much of her energy on speed but she fails to understand that the sun sharpens all my senses. I'll easily win this fight once she exhausts all her energy" Shade thought 🤔.

Ruby kept coming from all directions and it was only a matter of time before she felt the fatigue growing within her.

Shade opened a fiery portal with her right hand and blocked of Ruby's attack with her left, it was to easy for her as Ruby got weaker with each second that passed.

Ruby compressed all her energy and blasted at Shade with all she had but Shade dodged her attack easily and....

*BAAAAM!*

And she blasted Ruby into the portal with immense pressure. Ruby fell out of the other end of the portal and fell down to the sandy dunes of the Sahara. The impact of her collision with the ground sent a shock wave all through the dessert and created a small crater beneath her.

She looked into the sky and sighed in exhaustion, the scorching sun of the Saharan dessert was intense.

"You tried your best....and you improved" Shade said from above and flew down to help Ruby up.

"But I lost 🙄" Ruby said.

"What I wanted to tell you...is something you just experienced in this lesson" Shade said.

"What do you mean by what I just experienced?"

"Your opponent grew stronger by using her trump card....in this world....if you want to win against a much stronger opponent, you have to discover your power buff, something that heightens your powers as long as you maintain a steady intake of it. Down here I'm weaker than you are in strength but up there, I'm stronger." She pointed to the skies.

"So until you can beat me while up there, I won't agree that you've grown stronger." Shade concluded.
