Seeing the tension in the meeting room rising again, Linda Linda attempted to ease the atmosphere while signalling to the others. "Listen, the Boss has spoken; how can we not listen?"
For Sun Jack, she knew him well—once he said something, there was no room for negotiation.
Since that was the case, she decided to just get through the situation for the time being.
The others saw this and began to respond in groups of twos and threes.
"Understood, understood."
"I don't have many subordinates; I'll just take care of myself."
"The Boss is right, these matters indeed aren't great."
As everyone began to speak, the atmosphere in the meeting room gradually grew lively, everyone chatting softly while eating the noodles that had long since grown cold.
Sun Jack's gaze swept across their faces—Linda Linda, Old Six, Priest, Hanks, Zhao Yi, Delete, AA, Tapai, Abu, Steelheart, Xiao Ting.
In Sun Jack's mind, their images had always remained the same as before, but now he suddenly realized that after these few years, they had completely transformed.
Once outdated combat prostheses had all been replaced with advanced new prostheses, and their attire and hairstyles, richly designed, were far beyond anything from the past in both temperament and appearance.
Looking at them now, Sun Jack felt intensely complicated.
After finishing his bowl of beef noodles, everyone gradually left without making eye contact with Sun Jack.
It seemed that from this moment on, something was subtly changing between them, a change that Linda Linda was the first to notice.
After everyone had left, a soft hand reached into Sun Jack's shirt from behind and gently caressed his solid abdominals—it was Linda Linda's hand.
As she switched system modes, her body slid beneath Sun Jack's desk like a water snake. "Jack, it's not that I'm saying what you did was wrong. I just feel that this kind of matter could be handled in a different, more soothing way."
Sun Jack reached into Linda Linda's open mouth, grabbed her jaw and lifted her from under the desk, looking into her eyes seriously, "I don't feel the need for softening on this matter; I don't accept any compromise on principles."
Linda Linda lay directly in Sun Jack's arms, her cat-eared head gently bowing in his embrace. "Alright, alright, I understand. Let's not talk business. You need to rest now; shut your eyes and let me help you, okay?"
However, faced with Linda Linda's kindness, Sun Jack rejected it outright. "I don't need to rest. Rather than comforting me, I'd rather you go comfort the family of the deceased. After all, it wasn't my brother who died."
Hearing this, Linda Linda sighed, hugged Sun Jack's neck and climbed off him.
"Fine, I'll do as you say; I'll go comfort her. Don't worry, I'll take care of the compensation and everything."
As she spoke, Linda Linda's delicate face swiftly changed between youthful and handsome, and her large bosoms deflated like balloons. In a matter of seconds, Linda Linda transformed from a sophisticated, sexy woman into a lively, silver-haired handsome young man.
With her eyes gently closing and opening, her black pupils quickly turned into a dazzling starry sky, captivating onlookers. The DNA enhancement technology expanded her range of services, allowing her to switch her physical appearance based on each individual's preferences.
After everything was ready, Linda Linda said to Sun Jack with a complicated expression, "Jack, we really aren't your enemy."
"I know you're not my enemies," Sun Jack replied, his head lowered as he continued eating his cold noodles. "I didn't expect you to completely abandon capitalism. I know that's not realistic. I'm just trying to prevent capitalism from further corrupting you, to keep things from getting worse."
Linda Linda sighed softly, and after hearing this, she wrapped her arms around Sun Jack, gave him a kiss on the lips, and then turned and left.
Dealing with Nina wasn't a big deal for Linda Linda; after all, she had avenged her brother's death. More than this woman, she was worried about what others were thinking.
As part of the public relations department, Linda Linda was very clear about her role. She served as a lubricant between Sun Jack and his other subordinates.
Soon, in her top-floor duplex villa, at her invitation, nearly everyone attended her debauched party.
Everyone lay naked in pools of transparent slime, drinking and harmonizing their lives with others.
At the climax of the party, Linda Linda, holding the naked Song Yi, shouted loudly, "Sun Jack! You big idiot!!"
Under her leadership, others began cursing as well.
Seeing this, Linda breathed a sigh of relief, thinking it was good to vent some emotions. Suppressing them only made things worse.
She still wanted to smooth things over between everyone, to prevent any rifts with Sun Jack.
Linda Linda didn't know if she could help Sun Jack, but she would still do what she could to help this fool.
Slapping Song Yi's behind, she pushed him toward Old Six, then, draped in a transparent white silk robe, she walked to the edge of the pool.
There sat Hanks, feasting on something and not joining the others in cursing Sun Jack.
"What are you drinking?" asked Linda Linda as she sluggishly dragged her long trail of slime to sit beside Hanks.
Hanks tilted his head back and swallowed the dark red, viscous liquid from his cup, burped, then turned to Linda and said, "Lava."
"I thought you used to like eating fruit?" Linda asked. "What made you change your taste?"
"I've eaten every fruit in the world. I got sick of them and wanted to try something different, so I got my stomach replaced. Now I can taste all substances," Hanks said as he picked up a piece of depleted uranium ore and crunched it in his mouth.
Hanks glanced at Linda Linda, guessing her purpose for coming. "I'm fine, you don't need to worry about me. Sun Jack is avenging the BCPD this time. As the chief, how could I hold it against him? You should worry more about Steelheart; after all, it was his people who died."
"Steelheart?" Linda Linda tilted her head, thinking of that massive figure. "He's fine. He listens to his brother, and his brother won't let him mess around."
"You know them that well?"
Linda Linda threw a flirtatious glance. "Of course. I've slept with both of the brothers."
