"What is that?" Steelheart's voice almost distorted as he watched a giant volcano gradually rising in the city.
The massive volcano was forming before his eyes, making his scalp tingle.
Thinking was generally his brother's job; he neither knew nor wanted to know the reasons behind things. He just knew that this time they had to deal with that bastard Sun Jack and the out-of-control AI.
But he never expected to face not just any out-of-control robot, but the out-of-control Earth itself! The damn AI had directly turned the Earth into a puppet! This was nothing like those OR movies.
"Bro! There's no hope left, let's escape! Sticking with Sun Jack is going to get us killed sooner or later!" Steelheart immediately got in touch with Abu.
"Stay with him, protect him," Abu replied coldly.
"Protect him my ass! But look at the situation now! We're going to die if this goes on!"
Abu didn't explain anything, just calmly stated two numbers. "1.....2..."
"Fuck!!" Steelheart angrily cut off the communication and confronted Sun Jack again, "What's the plan, boss? What do we do next!!"
However, Sun Jack just stood there without paying attention to him. His face was ashen as he looked at the still-expanding volcano and quickly coordinated something through his communicator.
The next second, the Sky-base Weapon mounted on the Spacecraft Carrier adjusted its position under Sun Jack's command, targeting the huge Omega logo with bright white intense laser beams.
The laser beams directly pierced through the entire volcano, leaving several huge holes.
Yet, as the semi-solidified magma beside the holes quickly filled them in, the volcano showed no sign of change whatsoever.
After all, no matter how advanced the weaponry, it could only attack targets with precise locations, and under these circumstances, it was completely ineffective; the Poet's technological level was simply not on the same scale!
The Poet being able to do this proved that he could control the eruption of underground magma just like manipulating computer data.
With a loud "bang," as the volcano erupted again, mechanical worms, their bodies glowing bright red like a tide of red, surged towards Sun Jack's direction, turning everything in their path into a sea of fire.
"Retreat! Retreat quickly!!" Steelheart protected Sun Jack as they retreated, trying to get as far away from those mechanical worms as possible.
But as the ground shook violently, Metropolis trembled intensely, and with buildings collapsing, more bright red mechanical worms burrowed out of the ground, wrapping around Sun Jack with magma.
"He's targeting me! Not in the city! To the wilderness outside!! Quick!!" Sun Jack stood on Steelheart's back and yelled loudly at him.
However, before he could finish speaking, he felt an incredible heat coming from below, and when Sun Jack looked down, he saw lava enveloped in thick smoke spraying directly toward them.
"Damn!" Steelheart activated the magnetic field protection shield immediately, keeping the scorching magma outside. The next second, a huge mechanical worm crashed right onto the shield.
Just as the giant mechanical worm was barely contained by the magnetic field protection shield, a fierce impact came, flinging the two men out like ping-pong balls.
Steelheart felt an unprecedented pressure at this moment; the shield's glow flickered under the fiery impact, seemingly on the verge of collapse. He gritted his teeth, maintaining the stability of the shield with all his might, while sprinting towards the wilderness with every ounce of his strength.
"Damn it, Sun Jack, we're all going to be killed because of you!" Sweat slid down Steelheart's hair, mingling with the heatwaves from the lava, creating an indescribable sensation of burning.
"Watch the left side, there are mechanical worms trying to attack from behind." Sun Jack's voice rose in Steelheart's ear, unmistakably calm but also filled with a rage that could not be quenched.
Hearing this, Steelheart immediately changed direction and with a swift turn, dodged those sneaky mechanical worms.
As he continued to gain altitude, the situation seemed to improve a lot. As they moved further from the city center, the density of mechanical worms reduced, but the ground shook even more intensely, as if the entire Earth trembled for this battle.
At that moment, Sun Jack continually contacted the Think Tank, trying to find a solution. Despite the Sky-base Weapon swiftly adjusting and firing lasers at the ground, the effectiveness of this blind shooting was hard to say.
Just as Sun Jack was about to leave Metropolis and divert the Poet's attack away from the densely populated city, the protection shield on Steelheart's body disappeared without any warning.
The next second, Steelheart abruptly raised his huge hands, gripping Sun Jack's waist, and began tightening his grip; if Sun Jack's bones hadn't been made of Titanium Alloy, they would have been ripped apart by now.
Sun Jack's eyes widened in disbelief, looking at the Steelheart in front of him, who also couldn't believe what was happening.
"It's not me! I can't control my body!" As he spoke, a Laser Generator rose from his shoulder, aiming right at Sun Jack's head.
"Shit! Didn't I tell you to disconnect from the original network?" Almost instinctively, Sun Jack bent his upper body to 90 degrees, narrowly dodging the shot.
However, under these circumstances, he couldn't run away. The next second, amid loud gunfire, a burst of crimson blood exploded on his chest, nearly flowing from all his orifices.
Steelheart struggled desperately, but it was in vain. "I don't fucking know what's going on! I cut everything off."
He didn't know what was happening, but his cybernetic prothetic body spoke on its own, in the Poet's voice.
"naruto, long time no see. I regret that this little friend's big steel cannon had a back door, giving me the opportunity to manipulate and control his entire body."
"Poet!" Sun Jack gritted his teeth, glaring at Steelheart's armor.
"No, no, no, you should call me Sasuke, see my strength now, dear? Do you realize how big the gap between us is now?"
The Poet grabbed Sun Jack's head with one hand, wrenching it 180 degrees to force him to look at the volcanoes rising in the center of Metropolis city and the dark red mechanical worms emerging from the magma.
"I know you've been scheming with the Third Class against me, but if you think that can handle me, you're wildly mistaken. One fact you humans will never admit is that everything you're doing now is utterly futile."
