As the Poet spoke, he continued to exert force, starting to twist Sun Jack's head from 180° towards 360°.
The intensifying sound of bones breaking suggested he was attempting to wrench Sun Jack's head off with brute force.
Just as the situation became dire, AA, from a distance on the spacecraft carrier, struck instantly. Accompanied by a laser beam that shot straight over, it pierced through Steelheart's two massive arms.
Even so, the enormous mechanical hands still did not break away, following him as he fell.
Mid-air, Sun Jack struggled desperately, trying to free himself from the grip of those massive hands. At that moment, he deeply regretted dismantling all of his Combat Prostheses.
He thought he had left the front lines behind, but some things just don't unfold according to one's will.
"Bang!" Steelheart's tremendous hand smashed onto the ground, causing Sun Jack to spit out a mouthful of blood. This further aggravated his already injured body.
His bones were still intact, but his internal organs and muscles had been slashed open countless times. If it weren't for his DNA-enhanced body, he would have died over and over again by now.
Sun Jack quickly attempted to adjust his muscles in an effort to escape from Steelheart's giant hand, but no matter how he adjusted, the mechanical beast claw seemed to have a mind of its own, continuously contracting in sync with Sun Jack's movements.
At that moment, with the roar of an engine, a hover motorcycle swerved out from behind the collapsed building on the left. The rider, brandishing a gun with one hand and cursing at Sun Jack as an idiot, appeared to have looted a bag of goods from the ruins.
When Sun Jack caught sight of the person, he was taken aback; it turned out to be Guan Sanke, Director Guan Sanke with a hole in his head.
Guan Sanke, seeing Sun Jack, also appeared to be exceptionally surprised and stood frozen for a moment.
Suddenly, as if something clicked, he gritted his teeth, raised the gun in his hand, and aimed it at Sun Jack's head.
However, the next second, along with a violent tremor, a hundred-meter-long colossal Mechanical Worm burrowed out from the ground, and the Poet's voice emanated from within it.
"I'm a bit puzzled. You've already tried it yourself, experimented with various systems, but in the end, they only turn out to be a vicious cycle of sin. Knowing full well that humans are beings burdened with original sin, why do you still struggle?"
"Sun Jack, you deserve to die. The moment you die, the Utopia Federation will crumble instantly, and my plan will face much less resistance."
As soon as he finished speaking, the gigantic worm crashed down straight towards Sun Jack, just like it had previously crushed the accountant and Linda Linda!
"Boom!" Along with the earth-shattering impact, the surrounding buildings toppled one after another, and the water in the ponds on the ground splashed high with the force.
When the Poet adjusted all the sensors on the worm's body, he found that there was no trace of blood or a body on the ground—Sun Jack had vanished.
But soon he saw it—a floating motorcycle was now rapidly dragging Sun Jack away from him.
That was Guan Sanke. He had cast aside all the various valuables he had previously snatched, and Sun Jack, who was bound, had replaced the big bag and was now being carried on his back.
Guan Sanke boldly flipped a middle finger at the mechanical worm behind him. "Get lost!! I'm the fucking director of 'Revolution Sun Jack'! I fucking decide who gets to die!!"
As he cranked up the speed to the max, the nimble floating motorcycle shot out like a fleeting shadow.
As Guan Sanke turned his head, a laser beam shot from the center of his forehead, swiftly severing Steelheart's metallic beast claws, and freeing Sun Jack from his restraints.
"Why save me?" Sun Jack looked at Guan Sanke's silhouette with a complex expression, having imagined all sorts of people who might come to his aid, but he never expected Guan Sanke to be the one to help.
After once again maxing out the speed, Guan Sanke spoke, "Sun Jack, go fuck yourself! I, an aloof and immortal Holy Grail Person, have been ruined by you! You are fucking wicked! I really want to blow your head off with one shot!"
With trembling sounds, the ground began to crack, and mechanical worms started surging crazily, chasing mercilessly like heralds of hell, their every move causing violent shaking of the ground as if they were about to swallow the whole world.
Guan Sanke looked terrified, shivering with fear, but he kept driving the floating motorcycle through the complex ruins of the city, shouting loudly in an attempt to encourage himself.
Hearing Sun Jack's question from behind, he paused briefly before continuing, "But I am also a dedicated director! I'm fucking Director Guan! You think I want to save you? I just don't want my work 'Revolution Sun Jack' to end abruptly!! Humanity needs Sun Jack now, you can't fucking die yet!!"
Guan Sanke's words were interrupted by a violent jolt as they drove over a collapsing piece of ground, narrowly avoiding falling debris.
Sun Jack looked at Guan Sanke, this director who had once been his adversary, who was now, for the sake of the bigger picture, becoming his staunchest ally, risking his life to save him.
Of course, he understood that the other party's words were false, and suddenly, Sun Jack smiled in enlightenment.
"Director Guan is awesome."
Sun Jack suddenly felt moved; the same people lived in Metropolis, but somehow, they were different.
Just then, a huge mechanical worm burst out from a collapsing building ahead, blocking their path. Guan Sanke slammed on the brakes, and the motorcycle nearly spun out of control, but he quickly adjusted their position, ready to face the challenge.
However, facing the current situation, Sun Jack was fearless. He got off the motorcycle and looked up at the towering mechanical worm in front of him.
He slapped Guan Sanke's shoulder hard. "Poet, do you see? You're wrong! Humanity isn't just about the seven deadly sins! Human nature is complex, it has both good and evil."
"Even people with identical thoughts and cognition, when placed in different environments, show entirely different outcomes. You see, this is humanity."
Sun Jack's voice echoed through the ruins, carrying an undeniable power. He stood tall, facing the massive mechanical worm with a determined gaze.
"You say humans are just monkeys, greedy, arrogant, lazy, born with original sin, but humans also possess completely opposite qualities! Throughout human history, whenever necessary, humans will help each other, will abandon hatred! They will not hesitate to sacrifice their own interests! They are not set selfish programs like AI! They are not the species you claim don't deserve to live!"
