Chapter 637 Sun Jack

Sun Jack stared blankly at the data before him, and after being disconnected for over ten seconds, he finally realized he had returned.

"Sun Jack, Sun Jack." When he came across an audio data stream, Sun Jack felt a bit puzzled.

"Sun Jack? Why is Sun Jack here? What is he trying to do? What kind of scheme is this ignoramus thinking of now? Does he still intend to stop me? Hmph, how naively dreadful."

Suddenly he became fully alert. No, that's wrong, he! He is Sun Jack! He is not Omega 31!

Instantaneously, Sun Jack couldn't help but feel a rush of terror. After numerous memory alterations, it was one thing to experience deeply engraved memories, but now he was even confusing his own consciousness.

This feeling was extremely awkward, like having two personalities fighting over his body, which made him feel particularly uncomfortable.

He even considered starting a new system to resolve the problem, but Sun Jack understood that he could not do so, for it would have made all his efforts over the past few days completely worthless.

"Damn it..." Sun Jack browsed through the memories from the Poet in his data, realizing that the Poet's memories had already taken up a considerable part of his internal storage without his awareness.

"Sun Jack, I have a question for you now, can you answer it for me?" Linda Linda spoke up again through the screen.

"What?" Sun Jack looked towards her with impatience. "Speak up, there's no time for beating around the bush."

"After all that you've been through, are you still willing to sacrifice everything to save humanity as a species?"

Hearing this, Sun Jack was slightly startled. After thinking for a while, he spoke again, "Actually, I know why the Poet did what he did. With the input of these memories, I think I've started to understand his thinking."

"He believed that those tragedies were wrong, that his masters shouldn't have starved to death, and that such things should never happen again in the human world."

Images of two little girls who had starved to death emerged in Sun Jack's mind, as memories from the past uncontrollably surged forth.

He felt nauseated, and he could even taste them in his mouth; he wanted to vomit but had no mouth to expel it.

"Do you know that feeling? That feeling of accompanying stomach cramps, decreased heart rate, lowered blood pressure, and cold extremities? I have experienced it! The first thing I did after switching bodies was to experience what it was like to starve to death! It shouldn't be like this, definitely not like this!"

The more Sun Jack spoke, the more agitated he became, and his computations began to speed up, making everyone on the outside nervous.

"I've tried many methods, various different methods. I wanted to change, to stop all of this! I wanted to clean up all the rubbish in the world!"

"But I found that no matter how many times I cleaned up, there would always be new rubbish; an endless cycle! An endless cycle!"

"That's why I thought of starting with the system, with capital control, to help humanity completely rid itself of rubbish. But I realized that any system is merely an imposition of maximum constraints and never truly resolves any issues! You can never completely clean up the rubbish!"

"As long as humanity exists, rubbish will continue to be born! Just like those disgusting, sordid events I experienced before. They would keep happening over and over again, never to be completely eradicated! Only by completely annihilating humanity can those cycles be thoroughly extinguished!"

Sun Jack roared this statement, and at that moment, the nerves of everyone in Third Class were almost at breaking point; all black wall defenses were fully activated, and all emergency plans began to execute. That was if Sun Jack were to be completely assimilated by Omega 31, they would immediately initiate the cleansing program.

After a tense three seconds, Sun Jack's volume lowered, "But it shouldn't be like this, human sin should not be a reason to exterminate humanity."

"After I came down from the space station and experienced a lot, saw many abstract people, and witnessed many abstract events, I sometimes thought, since they themselves don't cherish their own lives, why should I save them?"

As Sun Jack's volume returned to normal, his tone also softened. "But I saw, even in a place like Metropolis, there is hope and genuine feelings. I saw those struggling to survive on the edges of Metropolis, living in hardship but still holding onto their love of life and longing for the future."

His mind replayed everything he had gone through with the Rat Alliance Battle Line and his own mercenary group.

"I saw the innocent smiles of the children, whose harsh living conditions couldn't dim the sunshine warmth of their grins. I also saw people supporting each other amidst adversity, facing challenges together. Their unity and resilience deeply touched me."

He recalled again the Priest's worn but warm orphanage.

Finally, after pausing for three seconds, Sun Jack began to speak again, and this time the Poet's memory no longer affected his cognition.

"Although the human species has its multitude of problems and sins, it also possesses endless hope and beauty. We can't negate the entire human species just because of some bugs in a few."

"Maybe the Utopia of my illusions will never exist, but even if I die, I will die searching for it. I will never give up!"

The others of Third Class watched Sun Jack through the screen, and although everyone was wearing a helmet and mask, their gazes seemed to take on a sort of respect.

Linda Linda spoke, "You're right, what you said is precisely why Third Class exists. If we had met you sooner, maybe we would have recruited you into Third Class."

After calming down a bit, Sun Jack spoke again, "Stop with the platitudes. Do you think I haven't dealt with your kind before? Let's get to the point. Shall we continue?"

"How many more times? I feel like I can hardly discern who I am anymore. If this continues, I fear I might become a Clone of the Poet." Sun Jack said, speaking to Linda Linda beyond the screen.

Then, Sun Jack felt as if all his various data and algorithms were being rapidly scanned and compared. When Linda Linda nodded her head upon seeing the 53% satisfactory answer, he relaxed. "Alright, you've done very well, far beyond our expectations."

Upon hearing this, Sun Jack finally breathed a sigh of relief. At last, it was over; all the torments were finally ending. He had been through a lot and had been tormented many times, but none as unbearable as this time.

He had to thoroughly endure in these few days what the Poet had experienced over a thousand years: he had to watch all the evils of the human world, a truly unbearable feeling, unbearably so.
