Part 81: The Flock of Birds

We were sitting and talking in the room when the sudden sound of birds’ feathers rustling surprised us. We stepped outside and saw hundreds of crows sitting in the open area. As they saw us, they fell silent, their beady eyes fixed on us in an unsettling gaze.

Mother Miranda stepped forward, raising one hand towards a crow. One of the crows flew up and perched delicately on her outstretched hand. “It knows you,” Doctor Marcus observed.

“No, it’s dying. It’s seeking help,” Mother Miranda said softly, her eyes filled with a mix of pity and sorrow. She gently let the crow fly back to its perch.

Intrigued, Doctor Will stepped forward and tried to catch a crow. “I have studied crows extensively during my medical career,” he said in a tone that hinted at his expertise. However, the crow was clever and kept its distance, evading his attempts.

“They’ll attack you, Doctor Will,” Doctor Marcus warned playfully, causing everyone to laugh.
