It's really refreshing to walk in this city. Sometimes I heard a zither, sometimes a piano, it was like a great utopia, and finally, we arrived at the center.
There, a large square was in the middle, beautiful and adorned with various statues. In the center was something like a galaxy with a man in the middle holding a staff and wearing something that resembled a crown and a beautiful, yet unusual, cloak. He carried a scepter that symbolized authority and power, and it was made of some beautiful material in golden and white colors.
Below him were two smaller statues. One was a beautiful woman with owl wings, wearing elegant clothes, holding a book in one hand and what appeared to be a wand or something similar in the other. The other was an elderly man with a long beard and a wise aura, wearing a long robe. However, he contrasted because he carried a "montante," a large and strong Iberian sword, which conveyed power and mystery.
"Who are these…?" I asked Henry as I was particularly curious.
"Well, the elderly man and the woman below are the gods with whom our race is allied and has a strong connection, although it is different from followers or religion; it is still a representation here. The god of space, Akanos, and the goddess of magic and knowledge, Thetis."
"And the one in the middle is an ancient member of our race who passed away in the past, one of the most memorable members known as Solomon."
"Oh…"
"Well, this square is a common place for members to stroll and live. As you can see over there, some members bring items to sell, trade, or just share."
Indeed, in the square, I saw some selling different types of food and various other things including items, minerals, and jewelry, and even certain artworks.
As I was about to move, I found something that seemed good…and ended up stopping…
Henry nudged me with his elbow.
"Did you smell something good?"
"Yes…"
"Well, let's go then."
He smiled and pulled me. And I stopped at the stall I wanted.
There was a strong smell of cheese, and indeed it was…
"Pizza…"
One of my favorite savory foods, but many times I couldn't eat it in the real world…but here it’s not a problem, although moderation is still needed to avoid psychological effects.
The woman making and selling it also had a good appearance.
And when it was my turn, she seemed surprised.
"Oh…a new member of the race, how surprising! So you're the newcomer. Would you like a slice of pizza? Today we only have margherita flavor."
"Yes!!"
"Oh…an enthusiastic young man."
She smiled gently, and I handed her the money and received the pizza.
I tasted it, the cheese flavor was great, the crust crispy, and the sauce well-seasoned and flavorful, a very well-crafted piece…
"Alex, do you want to stop to eat, or shall we eat while walking?"
"We can eat on the way."
"Okay."
.
And so we continued to walk around the city.
He took me to a specific commercial center that had one or more blacksmith shops, an alchemy shop selling potions and similar items, another selling what seemed to be different kinds of artifacts, and others selling general clothing. There was also one that sold and bought some ingredients and animal products, which I particularly looked at with curiosity because, according to the seller, he sold items from various continents, making it very interesting…
He also took me in front of a large center, a set of gigantic buildings, one white with a modern and technological air and another massive one made of wood and stones with runes, having an older and more refined aura.
"These buildings are special, and many members of the race almost live here, spending a lot of time."
He first pointed to the old one made of wood and stones with a mysterious and magical air.
"That one is the library. You can bring books or knowledge you find to store there. There is already a huge amount of books, and even if not all created are there, there is a large quantity, even the goddess Thetis is enchanted by our collection."
'Hmmm…seems like a good place to read books more easily.'
"By the way, you can also borrow books, but it's good to return them as one of the Elders manages the library and is very careful with it."
"Understood."
'Being able to borrow books is a good thing… it will make things much easier…and I won’t have to spend so much money on that…'
"The other building is a work and research center. Members of our race study and engage in magic, runes, spells, and all kinds of research beyond that there, and due to the nature of the research, it has a strong connection with the library. You will also be able to learn spells and try to acquire magical knowledge there. The Elder who manages the place can help…of course, she will charge for some things and might give tasks in exchange, but that's part of it."
He smiled slightly, and I nodded… I didn’t expect it to be free… whether missions or money, it's normal to have to pay to receive something. Besides, if many things were free, it would probably cause a large game break.
.
Before taking me to the city hall, the last place he took me to had a strong appearance of a barracks or a military installation.
"This is our headquarters where members of the race can train. There they can both learn combat magic and more focused in that sense, as well as some members like me, although not the majority, can deepen their knowledge in physical combat or with specific weapons."
"It is also an installation commanded by one of the Elders and the main protector of our race in terms of military missions. By the way, later you might see, but it's a place that makes it easier to acquire information about dimensions or the main world as they use a special and very useful system for that."
"Understood…"
He looked at me and spoke.
"From the sword at your waist, I imagine you use it as a means of combat, right?"
"Yes."
"Do you already have a manual?"
I responded naturally.
"I do."
"Good, you can talk to the Elder later and combine what you have with the most basic manual of our race. The skills from there are also good and can help."
"Okay."
'It should be useful to improve and find more combat methods…'
"But the Elder will still probably give you a test for that."
I nodded while looking at the building externally.
.
"Well, now I'll take you to the Great Elder at the city hall, let's go."
