Chapter 41

The mage's "fire arrow" hit one of them and shattered his chest. He fell to the ground and screamed wildly. Several soldiers jumped up to him and stabbed him in the body, but he didn't want to die. Then he was simply chopped into pieces.

One of the attackers ran up close to the three soldiers and threw her club at one of them, smashing him in the face and making him bleed. Then she made a leap that any cat would envy, and touched the bloody face of a soldier with her hand. After digging into the wound, she simply fell to the ground without feeling. Not thinking long, she was also chopped to pieces.

The mage released another spell and a "fire arrow" burned one of the girls' hands clean off. She stared at the charred stump in horror, hesitated and was impaled by several spears at once.

Two men from the attackers, acting quite skillfully, broke through the line of soldiers, and killing three of them at once, collapsed senseless beside them.

That was the last straw. The attackers fled. Arrows and bolts flew at their backs - almost all of them found their target. This did not stop the strange people and they continued to run towards the forest.

.Several soldiers rushed after them, ignoring the shouts of the dozens of soldiers. The mage finally unleashed another spell and his third "fire arrow" hit the girl in the back, knocking her down. She got up rather quickly and continued her escape, the embers on her back flickering among the trees for some time.

Everything calmed down. The tenants began to restore order among the soldiers.

Alexander returned to the camp in a very bad mood. He had created a great weapon for himself, and on his way back to the camp he mixed up his flasks and took a sip from the one into which he had decanted the blood of a warrior on the first day of his stay in this world. He immediately spat out the foul-smelling, yellowish liquid.

He poured the contents onto the ground, writhing at the odor, as a jelly-like substance began to come out of the flask after the liquid. The blood had obviously gone bad. Scolding himself for such carelessness, he went on, simply throwing the flask into the bushes.

Eugene met him at the camp and told him the latest news first of all. He also told him about the meeting and its results.

- And where is Alexey Gennadyevich now?

- And they went to the forest to get material, they want to build themselves another hut.

- It would be good if he left this idea of an attack.

- I don't believe it. He'll be whining again tonight about the greater good, which is a necessary thing like killing other people.

- Well, screw him. Check out what I did.

The hexapod was much appreciated. Eugene's admiration was so genuine that it reconciled Alexander with the loss of his "strategic" supply of human blood.

- Where's that asshole!? - The roar that erupted from the center of the camp was heard probably everywhere. Oleg shouted.

Changing the route, the buddies came out to the headquarters, where they found him.

- Who are you looking for?

- His guard. He is about to go on patrol, and he is nowhere to be found. Where's that bastard gone?

The answer came soon enough.

- So they went to attack.

- Who did?

- Well, the boss and his men. They recruited willing men, I was offered one, and went to attack the camp.

One of the guards at the sanatorium was genuinely perplexed, thinking he was telling the truth.

- And you didn't say anything?

- So I thought that they are this... well, that....

Alexander and Eugene looked at each other.

- When did they leave?

- About an hour ago. Maybe a little less.

Alexander ran to the dugout. Oleg and Eugene followed at his heels. Near the dugout, carelessly throwing the skins on the ground, he began to give orders.

- Gather at pace. Weapons and armor. If we are lucky, we will still have time.

And looking at the people who did not understand him, he did as it is customary in the army.

- Quickly!

It's better to give a command and then clarify it. Sometimes seconds decide a lot. After telling the quickly dressing men about the situation, he led his small squad to the first battle. Naturally, praying for a chance to prevent bloodshed.
