21: The Second Death

In that heart-wrenching moment, time seemed to slow to a crawl for Commander Kael. His senses heightened with every detail etched into his memory with painful clarity. He watched in horror as the bullet struck true, piercing through his Vice-Commander's skull with brutal efficiency.

"ARRRGHHHHHH!!!!!!"

A primal roar of anguish was unleashed from Commander Kael's throat, echoing across the battlefield. The grief and rage that consumed him in that instant were beyond measure, his heart threatened to burst apart from the emotions that threatened to consume his very soul.

"NO! NO! NO!" he screamed, his voice raw with agony as he witnessed the lifeless form of his comrade crumple to the ground. The world around him blurred, the chaos of battle fading into the background as he was consumed by a singular, overwhelming desire for vengeance.

"Hahahahahaha! Nice one Recruit!"

Major Kade's mocking laughter cut through the haze of Commander Kael's despair, a cruel reminder of the enemy's callous disregard for life. At that moment, the Spartan commander's grief transformed into a burning fury, a fire that consumed everything in its path.

"ARRRRRGHHHHHHHH!!!!"

With a roar that shook the heavens, Commander Kael launched himself toward Major Kade with a ferocity born of righteous fury. The air twisted, which was then followed by the loud sound of a thunderclap and a sonic boom which resounded at the same time.

With his greatsword blazed with elemental energy, he swung his weapon of war and destruction at Major Kade with unmatched ferocity, each swing a testament to the depths of his grief and the strength of his resolve.

Major Kade, taken aback by the sudden onslaught, scrambled to defend himself against the relentless assault. But for all his technological prowess, he found himself outmatched by the sheer force of Commander Kael's onslaught.

BOOM!

BANG!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BANG!

BOOM!

BANG!

Blow after blow rained down upon Major Kade's mech-suit, each strike fueled by the memory of fallen comrades and the burning desire for justice. With each swing of his greatsword, Commander Kael carved a path of destruction through the enemy ranks on the ground, leaving a trail of devastation in his wake.

But even as he fought with unmatched ferocity, Commander Kael knew deep down that his quest for vengeance would come at a cost. The grief and rage that fueled him threatened to consume him from within, blinding him to the dangers that lurked around him.

And just as he expected, his instincts screamed at him, warning him of the incoming danger to his life. Despite the reluctance in his heart to leave Major Kade, Commander Kael knew he had to make the right decision for his people.

As long as he was alive and not dead, his soldiers' morale would not drop, and maybe, just maybe, they would survive or even win the battle.

So, due to the responsibility on his shoulders, Commander Kael reluctantly stopped his relentless assault on Major Kade and tried to teleport away.

But alas, man disposes, God disposes.

Just as Commander Kael was about to teleport away, he noticed that the air instantly changed. When he deeply observed his surroundings, he realized that the spatial energies in the environment were in disarray, and if he tried to teleport, he would most likely die or suffer grievous injuries.

"What is this?" Commander Kael's tone was filled with confusion, shock, and also a tinge of worry.

Meanwhile, his nemesis, who never missed an opportunity to take a jab at his emotions, spoke with a tone of unconcealed mockery.

"A new toy. It's called a Spatial Disruptor."

Commander Kael looked at Major Kade, and then he saw a glowing orb of black light in the chest of the mech-suit.

"The Spatial Disruptor disrupts space and makes teleportation or the manipulation of spatial energy extremely difficult and dangerous. But I'm sure you knew that already… Monkey."

Major Kade's voice which was filled dripping disdain and mockery flowed into the ears of Commander Kael.

Commander Kael looked at Major Kade with a raging inferno in his heart and gaze, and the urge to continue his assault on Major Kade appeared in his heart. Commander Kael knew this was exactly what Major Kade wanted. For him to give in to his anger and ignore the incoming danger to his life.

Deciding to ignore his enemy's taunt, Commander Kael decided to move away at lightning speed. Lightning bolts flashed across his body, and just as he was about to move, something he didn't account for happened.

Major Kade grabbed him by the arm and hugged him tightly from behind.

"Release me!"

Commander Kael shouted and Major Kade chuckled. "I told you. You're going to die today no matter what."

A baffled expression appeared all over the face of Commander Kael. "You'll die too you fool!"

Commander Kael glanced at the source of the danger he felt. He saw the second mech-suit with a large cannon compressing so much energy that it made the fearless Commander Kael to feel a tinge of fear.

"Don't worry monkey. I won't die. I'm not like you fools that are not afraid of death."

Boosh

"I fear dying very much."

As Major Kade spoke, his voice became distant, and the sound of the mech-suit opening flowed into the ears of Commander Kael. He looked at his back, and then he saw a flying Major Kade.

He had abandoned his mech suit to escape the incoming blast.

"Fucking Coward!"

Commander Kael roared with anger and frustration, and Major Kade's loud laughter flowed into his ears.

"I choose to call it, winning by any means necessary."

Commander Kael gnashed his teeth, and with a determined expression, he decided to use all that he had to free himself from the grip of the mech suit.

But once again, and to the absolute dismay of Commander Kael, the mech suit gave him another surprise. A surprise he never saw coming.

He felt a crushing pressure being released from the mech suit, and when he felt the pressure, his expression changed drastically.

"Gravitational Force?"

"This mech suit has gravitational force?"

"But this type of mech suit shouldn't have gravitational force."

Shock was apparent on the face of Commander Kael, and despite all the determination that he had, he felt the speed of energies in his body slow down to a crawl, and his bones creaked due to the gravitational force that acted on him.

"So the heavens truly wish for the destruction of Sparta and the eradication of Spartans."

Commander Kael chuckled self-depreciatingly as he looked at the skies. He could sense the energy that was being released by the second mech suit, and he knew that no matter what he did, he was not going to survive the strike.

Today was truly going to be his last day.

Yet, even as he knew this, Commander Kael was reluctant. His expression twisted and it became extremely cold. Despite the pain and incoming odds, he stood tall, and he looked at his warriors, at his soldiers, at his people. His voice, rough and filled with determination, echoed across the battlefield once more, a clarion call to his warriors.

"SPARTANS!!!"

"EVEN IF I FALL! DO NOT FALL!"

"FIGHT TO YOUR LAST BREATH AND KILL AS MANY TECHNOTOPIAN BASTARDS AS YOU CAN!"

"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"

"FOR SPARTA! WE FIGHT!, FOR SPARTA! WE ENDURE!, FOR SPARTA! WE PREVAIL!!!"

BOOOOOM!!!!
