Shattered Lives:the fall of Sophia

Raphael's face contorted in disgust and shock, his eyes fixed on Sophia as if seeing her for the first time. "You're monstrous," he whispered, his voice trembling with anger and sadness.

Sophia's laughter finally subsided, replaced by a cold, calculating gaze. "I am what you made me, Raphael. You and your family, with your expectations and judgments. You drove me to this point."

Mrs. Martins took a step forward, her eyes blazing with anger. "You're not a victim, Sophia. You're a manipulative, cruel person who has brought shame to our family."

Sophia's smile returned, her eyes glinting with malice. "Shame? Ha! You're the ones who should be ashamed. You, who stood by and watched as I was torn apart by your expectations. You, who judged me and found me wanting."

The room was silent, the tension palpable. The nanny and wet nurse seemed frozen in place, their eyes fixed on the scene unfolding before them.

And then, Raphael stood up, his eyes never leaving Sophia's face. "I regret ever marrying you, Sophia ," he said, his voice cold and detached.

"But tell me, whose child is Matthew?" he demanded, his gaze fixed on Sophia.

Sophia's response was a mix of guilt and madness, her laughter echoing through the room. "Does it mean you don't understand? He is your son! What crime have I committed by raising your son for you? Is this the way to thank me?"

Mrs. Martins's eyes widened in shock, her voice barely above a whisper. "Does it mean Matthew is Dorothy's baby?"

Sophia's laughter intensified, her body shaking with a mix of tears and hysteria. "Oh, you don't understand! You don't understand anything!"

She suddenly sprang to her feet, her voice rising to a deafening crescendo. "I can't go down alone! I can't be pushed away like that! Matthew is my son! This is my house! Raphael, you can't abandon me! You're my husband! You have a good heart! You can't abandon me, can you?"

The room was a maelstrom of emotions, the air thick with tension and betrayal.

Raphael's face was a mask of disgust, his eyes fixed on Sophia with a mixture of anger and pity. Mrs. Martins's eyes were wide with shock, her hands covering her mouth in horror. The nanny and wet nurse stood frozen, their eyes fixed on the scene unfolding before them.

Raphael's voice was low and menacing, his eyes blazing with anger. "I am a good man, Sophia. Your husband. And because I love you, that's why I'm holding myself back. If not, I would have strangled you."

Sophia's face contorted in rage, her eyes flashing with a dangerous intensity. She lunged towards the nanny, her arms outstretched to grab Matthew. But before she could reach him, the door burst open and Detective Jameson, Mark, and Ivy walked in.

"Sophia Martins, you are under arrest for the murder of late Miss Dorothy Gartner and attempted murder of Miss Lyra Macdonald," Detective Jameson announced, his voice firm and authoritative.

The room fell silent, the only sound Sophia's shocked gasp. "What? No, that's not possible! I don't know who this Macdonald is! I didn't do anything!"

Raphael's eyes narrowed, his face twisted in disgust. "Don't lie, Sophia. It's over."

Just then, Ms. Johnson was led into the room, her hands cuffed behind her back. "Do you know this woman?" Detective Jameson asked Sophia.

Sophia's eyes darted towards Ms. Johnson, her face pale. "No, I don't know her. I've never seen her before."

Raphael's laughter was cold and bitter. "You're a liar, Sophia. You're a monster, she works at our company, remember? You haven't seen her before? I'm sure you lured her into becoming evil like you."

Sophia's eyes turned to Raphael, her face pleading. "Raphael, don't abandon me. Please, I'm your wife. I'm the mother of your child."

But Raphael's expression remained unyielding, his eyes cold and unforgiving. "You're no longer my wife, Sophia. You're a criminal. And you'll pay for your crimes."

Ms. Johnson's eyes dropped, her face pale with shame. She remained silent, her head bent in defeat.

Sophia's eyes blazed with anger and defiance, but her body trembled with fear. She struggled as the officers handcuffed her, her voice shrill with protests. "This can't be happening! I'm innocent! Raphael, help me!"

Raphael's face contorted in pain, his eyes welling up with tears. He gazed at Sophia, his heart heavy with sorrow. He loved her, despite her flaws and mistakes. But he knew he had to let her go.

With a heavy heart, he turned away from Sophia and scooped up Matthew from the nanny's arms. "I need to get out of here," he muttered, his voice choked with emotion.

As he ascended the stairs, tears streamed down his face. He felt like his world was crumbling around him. The woman he loved, the mother of his child, was a criminal and a murderer. And he was left to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.
