The human-demon border

I found myself standing near the border that separated the demon realm from the human world. The dark forest surrounding me was silent, except for the distant murmur of voices from the guard post ahead.

I knew I had to get past those guards if I wanted to cross over into the human realm. The problem was that the border was heavily guarded, with both human and demon sentinels patrolling the area.

My mind was still a whirlwind of confusion and anger from everything that had happened back at the castle. I needed to get away, to clear my head, and figure out who I was without all the noise. But first, I had to get past these guards.

I crouched behind a thick tree, peering through the foliage to get a better look at the guard post. There were three guards stationed there – two demons and one human. They were talking and laughing, seemingly relaxed but alert enough to make crossing difficult. I knew I had to be smart about this.
