The Beautifully Tragic: A Steddie Romance

Steve wakes up after a rough night. He alternated between sleeping and crying. Eddie's vest was crumpled in his arms, damp with his tears. Steve stands up and rubs his face roughly with his hands. He was dreading this day, but it was here. Today was the memorial service for Eddie. Steve had been asked to give talk about Eddie. He wasn't looking forward to it, but he would do it for Eddie, and the love they shared. He owed Eddie that much. Eddie's body hadn't been recovered after what happened. Steve remembered what Eddie had said to him on the day he died. "Outside of d&d I'm no hero. Things get bad and I just run." Eddie had been wrong about that. He was a hero. He hadn't ran away in the end. Steve lifts his shirt and looks at the scar left behind by the demobats. Eddie saw the bats attacking him and ran over to save him. He told the rest of them to get out of the upside down while he kept the bats distracted. He remembers the sad smile Eddie gave him, as he ran headlong into the army of bats. He held his own against them at first, but there was just too many of them, and they soon overtook Eddie. Steve remembers screaming Eddie's name as Nancy and Robin drag him out of the upside down. Eddie had to die scared and alone. Steve angrily punches the wall, making a hole in the drywall. He continues to punch the wall until his hand is sore and raw. He slumps to the floor, dissolving into tears.

Eddie POV: Eddie wakes up and sits up slowly looking at his surroundings. "Great" he thinks to himself. "I'm still stuck in this weird tentacle octopus world." He raises his shirt to find his wounds have completely healed, just leaving scars behind. Eddie felt different. Not bad, just off somehow. Still felt pretty good for a man coming back from the dead. He ran a tongue along his canine teeth and they felt much sharper than usual. He shrugged and stood up. "Now to find a way out of this fucked up Disneyland." He walks around until he sees the familiar red glowing of a gate. "Perfect." He thought. "Now I can get out of here and let sailor boy Steve know I'm back." He felt a pang in his chest when he thought of Steve. He didn't expect to fall so hard for him. He just hoped Steve wasn't handling his death too badly. He couldn't wait to hold Steve in his arms again. He jumped through the gate landing back in Hawkins in some random back alley. Now to go find Steve and the others to discreetly let them know he's back. He wasn't sure how he was alive or why, but he wasn't going to waste this second chance he had been given. He walks off down the street headed to Steve's house, whistling happily as he walked. He grins, sharpened canines catching the streetlight and sparkling like diamonds...
