Green grass

Ola had told himself that he was not going to take money from Jane again. She was an helpless old woman after all; it didn't seem fair but life wasn't fair either was it?

Besides, the woman kept blowing up his phone. She was beginning to send emotional blackmail texts and from her texts she didn't seem to care about her money, she just missed him. Ola hung out with his Camp friends and everyone seemed to be talking about how the scamming life was harder than they thought.

Rob and Lisa had cashed out from a few small time clients , Lisa most of all as the men would have face times with her and send her money afterwards. Isaac on the other hand was already catching big clients but the company was taking all the money and paying them salaries, He told them the company made them work from 9am to 5pm.

"So we could say Isaac is working a white collar job now right? Since he is working 9-5" Lisa cracked a joke and they all laughed including Isaac. Ola told them about Jane and they all offered him advices. It was Lisa's advice that stuck though. "you are already going to hell for taking an old woman's money, why stop now? You can walk through the gates of hell or you can through with a fancy car"

Everybody laughed but Ola found himself thinking on Lisa's words even after they had gone, he couldn't go back to suffering and what had his moral compass fetched him aside from showing him the way to poverty.

He reached out to Jane and after He begged her for a while, He told her that his kinsmen had taken his money, his father's property and refused to give him the throne as tradition demands and now He and his sister had been stranded for a while that was why He wasn't picking her calls, he didn't how to tell her that he could not pay her back anymore.

It was here reply that made him know that he had finally found the green grass he was after and there was a fountain to water the grass. "Baby, I don't care about the money, I care about you. Money is not a problem for me. I have a lot of it but I do love you and if you would relocate to Ingand to be with me , you wouldn't have to work another day in your life, leave that throne, they don't deserve you, come be my King.

Ola asked for time to think about the offer but He knew his answer was "yes" the moment she offered. Later when they talked he found a way to make her think it was because of the love he had for her that he was giving up his crown and his people for her.

Over the next few weeks, Ola made travel arrangements, got a visa and made plans to leave Mary with Lisa and promised to send in money for upkeep every month. Mary cried and gave him a whole speech about how family was the most important thing and she would rather he was here than in another country sending money for upkeep.

He knew she had a point but life had beaten to the point where he knew that only people that were alive could be present for their family members and without the necessities of life he was going after, they would soon be dead.

He also knew it wasn't a good idea to leave his little sister with a lady he met a while ago but it was better than taking her to a strange country to live with a woman he intended to scam. Besides, Lisa was the only person he could trust and she had agreed to take Mary in.

He had a game plan. It was to go Ingand, take as much as would sort him for life and return back to Negando to spend and invest it and never have to lack anything ever again. He thought about Kaka and what she would say if she was really looking at him from heaven and He shrugged the thought. Jane had sent him money for a first class ticket but he didn't want to waste the money. He flew commercial.

He was amazed at the sight of people and buildings from the sky. It was his first time on a plane and it was an awesome experience. He soaked in every moment of it. This was way better than the books and the movies had described it to be.

It felt really really nice. The trip was uncomfortable and quite brief unlike the buses he usually rode from the village into the town and back. This was something else entirely. Who ever had thought of this idea was a genius. Ola was no bush boy but sitting in a plane was different from reading about one.

On reaching the airport, there were a lot of people holding up sign posts; waiting to receive their loved ones. He eyes rolled around looking for Jane and He saw a sign post "my Negrando Prince". The woman holding it seemed to be overjoyed when she saw him.

He could tell it was Jane because they had face timed and shared their pictures among themselves, she looked older in person but she had such nice clothes and She seemed full of life. When she caught his gaze; He could see how happy she was to see him.

He walked towards and she ran towards him, she hugged him and screamed "My Ola" "I didn't think you would really come. I had started second guessing myself". "Don't you worry my Love. I am here now. She kissed him and it was brief and unexpected.

They got into a big black Jeep and drove home. His girlfriend's home was his home too wasn't it? The place was a fortress. A giant magnificent building.
