I'm taking the kids to New York

The day went by in a blur and they were back home. Their usually routine went up for the next week, and finally the kids were done with their exams.

" Finally! I get my phone back" Diane cried happy tears. During this time she'd already forgotten about the incident that occurred the other day in school.

" Why are you so excited to be with your phone this much?" Eric asked with a boyish grin. His mother handed him his phone too, which he collected and went to sit quietly right opposite them.

They were in their main room where they recieve guests, which they were currently having. Uncle ken and aunt Julie, alongside their school senior who was just a grade above them.

" Ehem!" Ken cleared his throat. " You still owe me an apology, young Lady." He gazed at Regina intently.

" Ken, shut up. I mean, later that day we all went out for sweets, and now you just decide to be dramatic again?" Julie rolled her eyes, making her receive a slap on the butt.

" Pervert! The kids are watching!" Julie spanked him hard on the back as she blushes.

" Let them watch." He wiggled his brows and chuckled afterwards. " Don't tell me you're intimidated by these stares, I mean you always want to take control whenever we're alone."

Collins stared at Diane from afar with a smile playing on his lips. Eric noticed this and frowned. " Why are you looking at her like that?" He asked clearly not comfortable.

" What? You want to tell me where to look now?" Collins folded up his arms and rolled his eyes. " And for the record, I wasn't looking at her."

Diane on the other hand was engrossed in operating her phone. " Eric, come look!" She squealed excitedly.

Eric without needing to be called twice dashed towards her with immediate effect. Collins also got up from where he was sitting and sat next to Diane. " Diane, I wanna soo too." He smiled.

Eric squinted his eyes suspiciously at him for two seconds before talking his seat by the left side right next to Diane. " Don't come too close, she didn't call you." He glared at Collins.

" She's not complaining." Collins smirked mischievously.

" Guysss!" Diane called with her small tone. Her big round eyes squinting in annoyance.

Regina's eyes sparkled with warmth as she recalled the twins' enthusiastic plea to visit New York after their exams. She had been watching them from across the room, Her gaze lingered on her son, who seemed to be having a disagreement with her friend's son, but she smiled knowingly - kids would be kids, and they would work it out.

As she turned her attention back to the adults, her expression shifted to one of concern. "Look," she began, her voice tinged with a hint of worry. Julie and Kendrick, noticed the change in her demeanor and leaned in, curious.

Regina's thoughts drifted back to her children's wish to visit New York. Diane, in particular, had been begging to see the city, and Regina knew how much it meant to her. But, Regina's own memories of New York were bittersweet. The city held a mix of fond memories and painful experiences that had ultimately driven her away.

Her concern was constant as she hesitated, unsure of how to broach the subject. She didn't want to disappoint her children, but she couldn't shake off the lingering fears and anxieties that the city brought.

Julie and Kendrick exchanged a knowing glance, sensing her worry, and waited for her to continue. Kendrick suddenly held up his hand with a serious look etched on his face. " Wait… before you drop what you're going to say, Apologize to me first."

Regina smiled at his silliness. This side of him was undoubtedly annoying. He looked so cold and unapproachable wherever he wasn't around family or friends. Of course, he was the son of elites himself, and a well respected gentleman in the business society.

" No, I won't." Regina replied with a sigh. " Why did you have to come and cause confusion? It was kind of your fault that the poor woman's daughter got expelled, you know."

" Poor woman? Oh please, people were pleased that she finally got what she deserved after bullying so much people. Her daughter would have been expelled anyway." Kendrick shrugged. The corners of his lips twiched. " Is it bad if I try to save my little sis?"

" Don't call me that." Regina sighed.

" Ken, Just move on." Julie chuckled.

" Will you allow me speak now?" Regina asked with a soft exhale.

" I forgive you. Besides if you keep this act up, you're teaching your children bad manners." Kendrick shrugged. " I'll need to take them in, away from you for a whole year and train them well."

" Just like you trained your son?" Regina smirked.

" Stop bickering, you two!" Julie sighed. " You're worse than kids, you know that?" She held up her head and exhaled in frustration of try to coax them. " Regina, please just tell us what were worried about earlier."

" I'm taking the kids to New York." Kendrick and Julie's eyes widened in unison, their eyebrows shooting up in surprise as they listened to Regina's words. They were taken aback by her revelation, their minds racing to process the information. For a moment, they forgot to breathe, their gaze fixed intently on Regina's concerned face.

They blinked twice, as if trying to clear their vision, hoping that the shock would dissipate. But it didn't. The news left them both speechless. Kendrick's mouth opened slightly, as if he wanted to ask a question, but no words came out. Julie's eyes darted to Regina's children, who were still engrossed in their own world, oblivious to the bombshell their mother had just dropped.

The silence that followed was heavy with tension, punctuated only by the sound of the children's chatter in the background. Kendrick and Julie exchanged a disbelieving glance, their faces showing each other's shock and concern. They knew Regina's past was complex, but now she wants to go back there?
