CHAPTER 31 A Coincidence

  ANNA'S POV

Once we were outside, David turned to me. "Would you like to get something to eat?" he asked.

"No, I just want to go home." I said. I was tired and just wanted to be alone.

"Okay." he said, looking a little disappointed. "I'll walk you to your car."

I nodded, and we began walking towards the parking lot.

As we walked through the parking lot, the silence between us was deafening. I could tell that David wanted to say something, but he was holding back. Finally, he spoke up.

"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked. "You seem a little... off."

I sighed. "I'm fine. I just have a lot on my mind." I said, trying to brush him off.

"Is it about the engagement?" he asked, perceptive as always.

I hesitated, not sure if I wanted to share my true feelings with him.
