CHAPTER 46 For Fun

  Wren's POV

I arrived at the familiar villa, and Ralph and I separated for the time being.

As I saw the beautiful garden again, my emotions were more complex than ever. It seemed like I wanted to escape, but at the same time, I felt like there was no need to.

After all, I wasn't the one who should feel sorry.

Hayden was sitting in the same chair as last time, with his usual lazy posture. Suddenly, he turned his head towards me, just like the day he sensed me, even though we no longer had a fake mate bond.

He waved casually at me. "Good morning. How have these past few days been?"

At that moment, it felt like time connected to the day we parted. There were no conspiracies in between, no disappointment that left me cold all over, and no slight emptiness after the spell was lifted.

Now it seemed like there should only be love and anticipation, but it could only seem so.

I didn't answer but looked around instead.
