NALANI'S POV
"What have I done?" I said queerly. My trembling hands were stained with blood—a red that didn't belong to me. Staring at the evidence, I felt my world freeze. Reality crashed down upon me, a heavy weight I couldn't escape.
"No, this can't be real." My voice quivered as disbelief coated my words. I couldn't tear my gaze from my bloodied hands, my fingers twitching as I tried to steady them.
Breathing became a struggle, and my chest tightened. My legs gave way beneath me, unable to support the weight of realisation. Grasping for something to steady myself, I clutched an old wooden chair, only for it to splinter into fragments, sending me crashing to the ground amidst the shattered glass.
