CHAPTER 67

  As his polished black shoe stepped onto the chilly ground of the chamber, his eyes were no longer as serene as the night's ocean but as red as the catastrophic volcano.

   

  His tall stature dominated the door frame, the tray of food was held in one hand, and his jaws were clenched tightly. Veins drew from his cheeks and neck, trickling down to his hands.

   

  I was baffled.

   

  As he took another step forward, I found myself retracting my steps and walking away from him.

   

  His steps came to a halt. "Why are you walking away from me?" He quickly caught onto my act, even though it was rather a reflex.

   

  "I…" That was the only sound my lips could mutter. My lips were apart, but no words seemed to be leaving them while my gaze still remained on the towering beast in front of me.
