CHAPTER 16 Pain

As the door closed behind Brett, I took a deep breath and allowed the reality of the situation to settle in. The pain was still fresh, and the wounds were far from healed, but I knew that I couldn't dwell on the past any longer. It was time to embrace the new chapter of my life and give myself a chance at happiness.

Eden had been a constant source of support and understanding. He had entered my life unexpectedly, but his presence had brought a sense of peace and comfort that I had never experienced before. His love was genuine and unwavering, and he had shown me what it truly meant to be cherished.

I turned my attention to the present, determined to nurture the bond that was growing between Eden and me. We had both been through so much, but together, I believed we could overcome any obstacle that came our way.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Eden wasn't yet back, and that left me worried—what could he have been up to?
