CHAPTER 99 Searching the Dark Nights

  Jennifer's POV

  With every passing day I hold my belly and pray to the moon goddess to have Mercy on me.

  'Please, allow me conceive an heir for Brett.' I always say to her but in all these two years she has never responded.

  I can see him losing it daily and it thugs at my heart that there's no fruit from my betrayal to my friend and sister.

  'Is the moon goddess punishing me for being unfair to Elissa?' so many questions on my mind.

  Yet, the silence that followed only served to intensify my despair.

  He barely comes home and when he does, he sleeps in his office or a separate room.

  I know he feels the weight of his responsibilities heavy on his shoulders.

  Our pack had always been his pride, his family. But lately, it seemed as though every little action by the pack members had grown a thorn in his side, amplifying his irritation.

  I mostly find him losing his temper far too easily, anger boiling within him like a wild storm.
