It was more uncomfortable than I had expected. Sitting between the brothers, I felt like a prized possession they were showing off in front of Frank and my mom. Intentionally.
From the expression on Frank's face as he sat across from us, and my mom beside him looking utterly worried, it was clear that this was not going well.
I shifted uncomfortably, fiddling with my fingers and looking down at my lap. I didn't know what to say. I wasn't ashamed of our relationship, but now that Frank was mad, we could have done one less thing to trigger him, couldn't we? That was my whole point, nothing else.
"Are you three going to explain anything, or do you want me to start?" Frank finally broke the silence that had stretched for nearly fifteen minutes, staring at us with judgemental, disappointed eyes that made me question my entire existence. How were the twins not having an existential crisis right now?
