"It's alright," Devon whispered, his hand softly squeezing mine. I glanced at myself in the rearview mirror. The turtleneck they bought from the store and the long slacks covered nearly every inch of me, hiding both the marks and the hickeys that adorned my body. All praise to the twins and their lips and teeth.
But a thought nagged at me. What was the point of it all? Frank had already figured everything out. So what was the point?
As much as I feared facing Frank, I was equally afraid to face my mother, even though we weren't on good terms. Would she blame me, thinking I had done this to ruin her marriage? That had never been my intention.
What would they think of me? Of us?
"Do you think it's a good idea to meet them now? They just found out everything and are surely mad at us," I whispered. "Isn't it better to wait a while before meeting them?"
