  The routine at home and the office felt almost unchanged, and I could say we were living a relatively happy life. Chase and Devon, even though they'd come home tired some nights, always made time for me. They helped with chores, and we even kept up our movie nights. It was as if things were slowly starting to get better, but now and then, a wave of nostalgia would hit me. I missed Mom's cooking- no one's dishes could compare to hers. And even though I hadn't lived with Frank for too long, I couldn't help but feel the absence of his fatherly presence around the house. They were family, after all. I wondered if he'd ever find it in himself to accept the fate we had all been handed.
