Another day opens with a crisp autumn morning on the Oakwood University campus. Students are bustling to their classes, and the leaves are beginning to change color, adding a vibrant backdrop to the winter morning. Lily, sitting under a large oak tree with a book in her lap, completely absorbed in her reading.
Roman is walking across the campus with a couple of his teammates. As they head towards the football field for practice, Roman's eyes catch sight of Lily under the oak tree. He slows down, his focus shifting entirely to her.
Roman (V.O.): "There she is. Alright, just be cool. It's just a conversation."
Roman tells his friends he'll catch up with them later and veers off towards Lily. His heart races as he gets closer, but he takes a deep breath, reminding himself of his promise to be genuine.
Roman (V.O.): "Just ask about the book. It's a good starting point."
Roman stops a few feet away from Lily, who is still engrossed in her book. He clears his throat softly to get her attention.
Roman: "Hey, Lily. What are you reading?"
Lily looks up, slightly startled but then smiles when she sees Roman.
Lily: "Oh, hi, Roman. It's a fantasy novel. 'The Enchanted Forest.' It's really captivating."
Roman sits down on the grass near her, maintaining a respectful distance.
Roman: "Sounds interesting. What's it about?"
Lily's face lights up as she talks about the book, explaining the plot and her favorite characters. Roman listens intently, genuinely interested in what she has to say.
Lily: "It's about a young girl who discovers a hidden world within a forest. She goes on this incredible journey, meeting all sorts of magical creatures. It's really beautifully written."
Roman: "That sounds amazing. I've always admired people who can get lost in a good book like that."
They continue talking, and Roman shares a bit about his own interests. He mentions his love for football but also admits that he hasn't read many books lately.
Roman: "I used to read a lot when I was younger, but football takes up most of my time now. Maybe I should pick up a book again."
Lily: "You should! It's a great way to unwind. If you need any recommendations, I'd be happy to help."
Their conversation flows naturally, and Roman feels himself relaxing more around Lily. She's easy to talk to, and he's enjoying the genuine connection forming between them.
Roman: "I might take you up on that. Thanks, Lily."
Lily smiles, appreciating Roman's sincerity.
Lily: "Anytime, Roman. It's nice to have someone to talk about books with."
As the sun starts to set, Roman realizes he needs to head to football practice. He stands up, brushing off his jeans.
Roman: "I should get going. Practice is about to start. But I'd love to continue this conversation sometime."
Lily: "I'd like that. Good luck at practice, Roman."
Roman waves goodbye, feeling a sense of accomplishment and excitement.
Roman jogs towards the football field, a smile on his face. His teammates notice his good mood and tease him lightly, but Roman just laughs it off, feeling more confident about his approach with Lily.
Roman (V.O.): "That went well. She's amazing. I can't wait to talk to her again."
