Insane plan

The chamber was big. And it was used for a number of things. It was used as the kitchen, bathhouse, training room, meeting room, and most important of all, the clan leader's room.

They boxed her room away with wooden planks and a door.

The room was big and comfy, papers shattered on an already overpacked table. A bed shoved in one corner and a large metal chest in another.

"Well, Kyrexiel. How do you like this place?" Urlk snorted from his place in a broken chair. "You don't seem to like it. You're a True?"

Kyrexiel paused. How should he reply? Lying outright would cost him, so instead, he mixed it. He met Urlk's eyes. "Was a true Bloodline. But my family fell into ruin a while ago. I've been on the streets since then."

It was very common in Maledicta for families to rise and fall like the moon. It was even expected because those below were ever pulling those at the top, either to climb over them or just so they could join them for the misery of all.

Urlk believed him, although he rolled his eyes. "That's what they all bloody say. Nothing unique."

Kyrexiel smiled, his explanation would also explain the way he moved and behaved because he knew he behaved and talked like some Noble. Elyrixa sat on the creaking chair behind her table. "You have a question for me?"

Kyrexiel shrugged and took the chair in front of the table. "Two questions. First you the clan leader? And, why are you targeting the blue shield?"

He must know if they were a threat to his mother.

"That's heavy questions but before I answer them I have something to propose to you," she looked across the distance at him. "Join our clan."

Kyrexiel blinked. And blinked. That wasn't what he was expecting at all. Join their clan? Of course, it's possible to join a clan even if you don't share the same Bloodline. Like the Hydraeus Great Clan. They had members spanning the whole of Maledicta.

They are known as clan retainers. That was how clans were built, by joining together to form a bigger clan. Brought together by a common and different interest.

But it's more than that. Being a clan retainer means you will serve the clan. And the clan will give you protection and financial aid in return. That's why it's only smaller Clans that want to be clan retainers to bigger Clans.

Elyrixa went on. "You don't have to decide now. You can do that later after you listen to whatever I want to say. It's all related to your questions."

"The reason I am the clan leader is that I am the pure of my Bloodline and both my parents are dead."

Kyrexiel stiffened. Of course, there are thousands of pure bloodlines out there, what sets them apart is the strength of their bloodline techniques. Even low Rashakas can have pure Bloodline.

But still, it would explain how she was able to fight the blue shield so well even though she was ranked above them.

"It naturally falls on me." Elyrixa continued.

"I see," Kyrexiel said. So that's what made her the clan leader but it didn't explain the other question or why she wanted him to join her clan.

She continued with a shrug. "I don't hate the blue shield or anything I have nothing against them but they just get in the way of my plans. They provided an opening for me."

"My parents died two years ago and I inherited the clan. It was immediately apparent to me that I must make this clan rise or we'll perish." Elyrixa said, eyes intense. "A great change is coming. And it will sweep our Dominion and all the others in our world. My clan must have something to cling to."

"So my method is simple. I must join a bigger clan as a retainer. A very big and influential clan."

Kyrexiel looked at her, he could see her desire to protect her clan in the way her muscles tensed and her eyes hardened. "You want to join a bigger clan but that doesn't explain why you kill blue shields. Or are you joining a clan that opposes the Bloodscion?"

There are a lot of Clans like that. 'It's not like my mother is exactly popular and the reason the Hydraeus stayed in power is through our strength. Our bloodline is one of the strongest in the world. Before. Its strength diminished with the fall of my father'

'Even most of my mother's Overlord doesn't exactly support her as they should' Kyrexiel sighed softly at the mess his family is in.

Elyrixa shook her head. "No, I'm doing all this to help her. See, since last year, we the Scuridae Clans have been patrolling the Crumbs and solving crimes. Not petty thieves but actual ones. Real illegal things. We then tip the blue barracks off."

"The recent fight with the blue shield by us is because of the crimes they are committing here in the Crumb. All we need is solid evidence against them and we're done. " Elyrixa paused and watched him.

Kyrexiel was connecting the dots. If they had been solving crimes and putting criminals down and, he was sure they weren't doing it because of the love of the people then they must be after something.

sure they weren't doing it because of the people. The only other person who stood to gain was his mother.

His eyes got bigger. "Don't tell me....?!"

Elyrixa slapped the table, a grin twisting her lips. "I tell you. We are trying to be clan retainer to the Hydraeus Great Clan!"

'Well shit' Kyrexiel thought. "The Hydraeus clan. That's....huge. Very huge. The Bloodscion's family. But I don't think she'll be pleased with your killing her blue shield."

"How will she know?" Urlk interrupted with a snort. "We have been looking for a big bust like this that will draw her attention so we can plead her cause. This is big because the blue shield is working against her."

"We must know the reason why the Blue Shield is taking people off the street and then sending them off again." Then Elyrixa looked at Kyrexiel again, waiting for him to speak.

"You are insane." That was what he said.
