Artie and her entourage rounded the corner of one of the hallways leading to the front gates. They exited through an open set of wooden doors into a covered pathway that showed how hard it was raining outside.
The wind and rain whipped around, coming in sideways and Artie was surprised by how muddy it already was. Several guards were posted around the exit, and all seemed grim-faced as they stared up at the grey sky around them.
Artie looked into the distance, able to make out the brightly coloured uniforms her men were wearing today to show themselves off to the Lords who they were supposed to be greeting. A crowd of men stood before them, but all Artie could see was the wet backs of the three men who were ready to fight for her.
