Chapter 7: Improvement

Chapter 7: Improvement

Three days had passed since then.

It took Eden to understand a few things in these three days.

No. 1: He had procrastinated a bit too much.

In those past two years, if he had just stopped whining and applied half as much effort as he put in these three days, then by now he would've been recruited by some company.

Surely, his talent wasn't that great, but crying didn't improve his situation, did it?

No. 2: He loved studying.

Just as Eden was wondering how to get more lottery points, the system generously decided to award them whenever he grasped a new topic. It wasn't just limited to music.

Eden actually managed to learn a few plot-improving techniques that gave him an additional +1 point in the literature section and +3 lottery points.

Moreover, these three days of studying with Hugie and focusing in class gave him a rise of +5 Attribute in music and +15 lottery points.

[Name: Eden]

[Age: 18]

[Fame: 3]

[Life Span: 29]

[Literature: 6]

[Music: 19]

The cream on the top was his lottery points, which were currently 30!

Who was out there tarnishing the name of studies, eh? It wasn't boring or nerdy.

It was badass!

No. 3: Fate.

Eden found out that he seemed to have some kind of natural affinity with this word. At the start, he would just blame everything on this and opposing it would be his source of motivation.

Despite that, not a single creative piece of art came from his mind.

However, when he decided to make a simple tune regarding fate, it was as though his brain had decided to work at its maximum speed, exerting the peak of his potential.

Other than noticing these three things, Eden had also found a cool feature of the system.

"Play Symphony No. 5."

Ding...

This world's art and music were great; nonetheless, being from Earth, it was inevitable that Eden would miss some classics. The nostalgic feeling was something else.

A day prior, he had randomly and humorously asked the system to play Symphony No. 5 for some inspiration.

The system actually did so!

It was shocking to him. Such a feature was just below the talent-leveling feature.

The only other function similar to these two was the shop. The function shop was something that could make one's imagination go wild.

Unfortunately, Eden apparently didn't possess enough authority.

Shaking his head, he focused on the work.

While listening to the song, he simultaneously played "It's Fate" on the computer.

When Eden had heard this song for the first time, he instantly liked it.

The tone of the song was extremely happy, but he always felt that there was a deep sense of terror within the tone of the singer.

This song was actually written by a talented songwriter who was also a vocalist. Due to terminal illness, he was slowly losing his life, and in his last days, he created this masterpiece.

The cover of this book featured a clown. A clown who was happy, a clown who enjoyed every single moment of his life because the clown had already given up. The clown had accepted its fate.

The clown would accept all the misery that came to him with a smiling face.

"Even if it hurts."

Indeed, the lyrics of the song "It's Fate" and the subtle tune greatly matched Symphony No. 5.

The song seemed to pull the strings of one's heart. Other than Eden's motivation, this song and Symphony No. 5 helped him greatly in creating this first draft.

A heavily inspired draft.

"Mm, what's this?"

Hugie's sudden voice didn't startle Eden. After all, he was mostly used to this roommate of his.

Hugie leaned over, looking at the monitor, more specifically the symbols that denoted all musical notes. He was very familiar with these tools, so he naturally knew what those dots and symbols, along with waves and graphs, symbolized.

Just looking at them, he could form a tune within his head.

He then proceeded to snatch the headphones and fit them around his head.

"You made this?" He raised one of his eyebrows. Hugie was surprised, perhaps in some senses shocked.

This time it was in a good way!

"Hmm, were you perhaps... inspired by 'It's Fate'?"

"Mm."

"Well, still bro. It's better than average. If you manage to hire some professionals or maybe talented newcomers, then it'll be a good song. Maybe, you can participate in Rising Star." He rubbed his chin.

"Wait, did you really make it?" His pupils shrunk. "Plagiarism is a shameless behavior," he reminded.

[The system agrees.]

"Nope, do I look that shameless to you, bro? Is that what you think of my handsome face?"

Hugie's lips twitched, but he didn't say anything. He was too tired to deal with this bulls*it.

"Anyways, you gonna stay late today too?"

"Yeah."

"See, this is the effect of not drinking alcohol." Hugie smiled as he jumped to the bed on the left.

Eden was always the one to sleep first. His bedtime was before 9.

After all, due to the disease that stayed rent-free in his body, Eden had physically become weak and would get tired easily. This was something Hugie had noticed one and a half years ago.

He guessed that something big had happened in Eden's family since he hadn't attended classes for a month. When he came back, he was all pale.

And from that day forth, he started drinking and smoking.

Hugie guessed that this was the reason why Eden looked so sick and was tired all the time.

Eden, unaware of all these thoughts, continued to make some modifications in this draft.

Hmm, alright.

He nodded in satisfaction. These lyrics were his level best.

Now to find any other glaring errors or parts which could be further refined, he wished to invite a sound engineer and a vocalist.

He indeed had received a large donation from =Amon=, but it still hurt to spend money.

Ding!

At that second, a notification appeared.

=New notification from Amon...=

Haa, Theo is really a fan of The New Beginning, ain't he?

At that instant, Eden suddenly froze as he thought of something.
