As soon as Lord Noble disappeared, the silence in the room felt oppressive. Kaisar stood rigidly, his eyes narrowing as he gazed out the window. The shadows seemed to draw tighter around him, and Barbara could feel a storm brewing.
She looked at him for a while before turning around. Kaisar's detached reaction only made her uncomfortable.
"What was that?"
Barbara stopped in her tracks and looked back. Kaisar's jaw tightened. His eyes flashed with a coldness that startled her. Her heart thumped as fear crept within her.
"What do you mean?" she asked back feigning ignorance.
"You think you can just speak your mind and nothing will happen? You better avoid him next time or just speak politely when you meet him! Besides, who allowed you to go out?" his voice low but full of warning.
His uncle was far from a dangerous man and Barbara just had challenged him! She didn't know who he was or what he was capable of.
