Shared Moments

The days at Crestwood University passed in a whirlwind of lectures, assignments, and new experiences. Ji-ae quickly adapted to the rhythm of university life, finding solace in the routine and excitement in the unknown. Her friendship with Min-jun blossomed effortlessly, making her feel more at home than she ever expected.

One sunny afternoon, Ji-ae found herself at the campus library, engrossed in a thick volume of classical Korean poetry. She was so absorbed in her reading that she didn't notice Min-jun approaching until he playfully knocked on her table.

"Hey, bookworm," Min-jun said with a grin. "I've been looking for you."

Ji-ae looked up, smiling. "Hey, Min-jun. What's up?"

"I was wondering if you'd like to take a break from all this studying and join me for lunch. There's this great little place off-campus that I think you'd love."

Ji-ae hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Sure, that sounds nice. I could use a break."

They left the library and walked to a small, cozy café just a few blocks away. The café was quaint, with warm wooden decor and the aroma of fresh pastries filling the air. They found a table near the window, and Min-jun ordered for both of them.

As they waited for their food, their conversation flowed naturally. Min-jun shared stories of his childhood adventures, his travels with his family, and his passion for music. Ji-ae found herself laughing at his anecdotes and feeling more comfortable than ever.

"So, what about you, Ji-ae?" Min-jun asked, leaning forward. "Tell me more about your life in the countryside. What do you miss most about it?"

Ji-ae smiled softly, reminiscing. "I miss the simplicity of it all. The fresh air, the sound of birds in the morning, and the way everyone knew each other. My grandparents' house is surrounded by fields, and I used to spend hours just walking and thinking. It was peaceful."

"It sounds beautiful," Min-jun said. "I'd love to visit someday."

"You should," Ji-ae replied. "My grandparents would love to meet you."

Their food arrived, and they ate while continuing their conversation. Min-jun's charm and genuine interest in her life made Ji-ae feel special. She realized that she looked forward to these moments with him, moments that seemed to brighten her days.

As they finished their lunch, Min-jun glanced at his watch. "I have an idea. How about we go for a walk? There's a park nearby that's really beautiful this time of year."

Ji-ae agreed, and they left the café, strolling leisurely towards the park. The trees were lush and green, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves. They walked along a winding path, occasionally stopping to admire the flowers or watch children playing.

At a small pond, they sat on a bench, watching ducks glide across the water. The scene was tranquil, and Ji-ae felt a sense of contentment wash over her.

"Ji-ae, I'm really glad we met," Min-jun said softly. "You're different from anyone I've ever known. You make everything seem... brighter."

Ji-ae felt her cheeks flush. "I feel the same way, Min-jun. I've never had a friend like you."

Min-jun smiled, reaching out to gently touch her hand. "I hope we can always be friends, no matter what."

Ji-ae looked into his eyes, seeing sincerity and warmth. "Me too."

As they continued their walk, Ji-ae couldn't help but think about how much her life had changed since coming to Crestwood. She felt a connection with Min-jun that was deeper than she had ever experienced, and it made her heart flutter with a mix of joy and anticipation.

The days turned into weeks, and their bond grew stronger. They studied together, explored Seoul, and shared countless conversations about their dreams and aspirations. Min-jun introduced Ji-ae to his favorite spots in the city, from hidden cafes to bustling markets, and she found herself falling in love with both the city and the boy who had become her closest friend.

One evening, as they sat on the rooftop of Min-jun's apartment building, watching the city lights twinkle below, Min-jun turned to Ji-ae with a serious expression.

"Ji-ae, there's something I need to tell you," he said, his voice steady.

Ji-ae felt her heart skip a beat. "What is it, Min-jun?"

"I've been thinking a lot about us, about how close we've become," he began. "And I realized something important."

Ji-ae's breath caught in her throat as she waited for him to continue.

"I think I'm falling for you, Ji-ae," Min-jun confessed, his eyes searching hers. "I don't want to just be your friend. I want to be more than that."

Ji-ae felt a rush of emotions—surprise, joy, and a touch of uncertainty. She had grown so fond of Min-jun, but she hadn't expected this.

"Min-jun, I... I don't know what to say," she whispered.

Min-jun took her hand, holding it gently. "You don't have to say anything right now. Just know that I care about you, and I want to be with you."

Ji-ae looked into his eyes, seeing the sincerity and hope in them. She felt her heart swell with affection. "I care about you too, Min-jun. I just need some time to think."

"Take all the time you need," he said softly. "I'll be here, waiting."

As they sat together under the starry sky, Ji-ae couldn't help but feel that this was the beginning of something truly special. She didn't know what the future held, but for the first time in a long time, she felt hopeful and excited about the possibilities.
