Financial mess

Markos hugged her and head patted Valeria who was grabbing his bathrobe. Somewhere deep down in his heart he wanted to confess about feeling bad seeing her in that state. But how could he? Ego clouded his senses and Markos kept quiet. Letting Valeria cry for a while the woman released his robe.

Their eye contact happened and Markos could see regret in her eyes. Whereas, Valeria could only find a cunning expression in his silvery orbs. "I need to go now." She stood up while wiping off her tears, stumbling on her footsteps when Markos held her. "The files are there." Valeria gestured towards the sofa.

Meanwhile, Markos held her arms tightly to prevent her from moving. "Don't trip, Valeria." His softened expressions hardened once again, growing into a smirk. "Daddy is not coming to save you this time." Markos reminded her of that time with a subtle mock. Leaning in near to her ear, licking her earlobe.

Valeria smacked his chest and stormed out of the lounge. Reaching the ingress she could not hold back her tears. "What was I even expecting from him, hah!" Wiping off her tears she headed outside through the courtyard and onto the pavement. Slightly tripping there her heels broke.

"I freaking hate it! Argh!" Crouching on the ground she could not feel anything else other than burning the whole darn world. "Why am I in this state? Why can't you let me be for a while?" She groaned looking upwards at the starry night sky. Valeria shook her head and removed her heels, holding it as she walked barefoot.

Markos saw her walking out of the courtyard when an elderly woman walked behind him. "Is she the one? Valeria?" He turned his head to see a woman with grey hair of wisdom and wrinkled face of experience. Markos simply nodded with a weak smile as she placed her hand over his shoulder.

"She will come back. Patience, son." The woman was a motherly figure in his life after Markos lost his biological mother. Upon returning home that day after being insulted by Valeria's father; Markos had a fight with his mother. He accepted the hefty sum for her treatment but his mother assumed Markos played foul.

Believing that her son intentionally trapped Valeria into the mess. Creating the situation where her reputation was risked only to extort money from Hayden. Markos' mother died from a heart attack after not being able to bear the weight of her assumptions. Returning home, he found her dead body which fueled his rage.

Leaving for abroad, he swore revenge for his mother. Markos took the money and fled, leaving Valeria in confusion. Her father seized the opportunity to feed Valeria's head with hatred regarding Markos. After cutting ties from his past life Markos was free to live however he wanted. That is how he met Miss Agnes, the elderly maid.

She was hiding in an orphanage working as a babysitter. Having no kids, a hefty sum on her head, no husband or any relative; her miserable condition found Markos. He took refuge there briefly and somehow they grew closer and developed an emotional attachment. Markos brought her back to Italy with him.

"I hope so she does." Looking at Agnes, his shallow voice clearly displayed the faint faith he had in her. She placed her hand over his chest and made Markos look at her. "If your heart still beats for her, then fate will bring her back to you." Markos wanted to believe in her words with all his might.

He simply nodded and placed his arm around her. "Well, let's go and eat. I wonder what the chef has cooked today." Markos walked with her towards the dining hall. While Agnes was certain that he still missed Valeria and could not live away from her anymore. She wanted them to clear the misunderstandings.

That very night Valeria took the cab home when her step mother wasn't there. Closing the door she did not bother about that woman knowing she must be at clubbing again. Heading towards her room she threw the heels on the wooden floor. Slumping on the bed, staring at the ceiling she burst in tears.

Valeria knew that she should not have expected much from him. But living in her own delusion she hoped that Markos still had some feelings for her. "I will make you pay for everything I have lost till now, Markos. Every freaking thing!" She gritted and wiped her tears off her cheek carelessly.

Just then her phone rang once again and Valeria leaped towards the edge of the bed. Leaning over the bed she picked up her bag and then shuffled out the phone. "Hello?" Attending the call from the orphanage once again, she grew even more anxious. "Yes, yes. I will send you money soon."

Generating a new excuse each time from past three months Valeria could not think of anything more. "No, no. Please, don't do this. I will transfer the funds by the end of this month." Valeria pleaded on the call but the person on the other side seemed to not budge anymore. "Yes, I promise. Please, rethink on the decision."

Ending the call she sighed heavily and laid on the bed. A tear crawled down on the corner of the eye and then got lost in the bedsheet. "What shall I do now? Where will I get all the money which is pending from three months? Argh!" Valeria raked through her hair and groaned in rage.

"Heck! Why did Markos come back? Ever since he has come back to Italy my life has undergone a big mess!" Valeria grew enraged thinking about him. Every single mess of her life currently started with Markos coming back. "If he hadn't bought my company, I would have found another investor."

"Only because of him, I am still stuck in financial crises." Reaching for the pillow she threw her face in it. Knowing that Markos must have done something to sabotage her company only to buy it later on. Valeria was not a fool to believe that her capabilities failed and she lost such a big tender. Markos was behind it.
