ABOUT THE DEMONS PART 3

The knights, squires, and servants of the Leonardo family alongside the baroness embarked on their first lesson on Demonic Studies.

For their first meeting, Evelyn ran through the types of demons that existed in Bara to give them an idea on how many evils roaming in their world.

Nothing could have prepared the attendees for what Evelyn told them about the demons.

"Until the year 969 of the Great Bara Calendar, there is a total of at least 150.738 demonic species that have roamed the Mortalia Empire. Ever since the Empire's founding, there have been that many demons which infiltrated our border and terrorized our lives." said Evelyn. "That being said, the number of demonic species that have been known to enter Mortalia is still not even half the number of demonic species that exists in this world."

The lecture attendees were distraught by what Evelyn just said. To think that their great empire which had long history in the continent still had not seen half the demons there were in the world. The fact that there were plenty more horrors of the demons that the people of Mortalia had not yet seen was quite distressing.

"Earlier in the lesson, we've skimmed over the chapter on Primeval Demons. In that part of the lesson, we learned the origin of demons." said Evelyn.

The girl proceeded to present them a map of Bara Continent and pointed to its lower half.

"Enoch the Adventurer told that all the demons in the world originated from a region of the Bara Continent called the Southern Plains."

The area which Evelyn pointed on the map covered almost half of the map of Bara.

"As the name suggests, it is a vast region located in the southern part of the continent which is ten times the size of Mortalia Empire." said Evelyn. "The Southern Plains is the region with the highest populations of demons in the continent that the Zion Holy Nation classified the region as ranked 1st in the list of Desecrated Grounds."

Desecrated Grounds. They were the locations in the Bara Continent that had fallen to the grasp of the demons.

Havensground, the former capital of the Mortalia Empire, was classified as one of the Desecrated Grounds since the city had fallen to the demons centuries ago.

"Most of the demons that are roaming the continent right now are those that got out from the Southern Plains. The typical reason why demons would want to get out of the Southern Plains is because the region was too crowded and the weaker demons had to flee elsewhere. Another main reason would be to hunt for food, in other words, humans."

The attendees could not bear the thought of how many demons there were in the Southern Plains.

The thought that the demons that got out of the Southern Plains typically to be the weaker demons that existed in the region also terrified them. They could not hazard a thought of how much stronger the demons that got to stay in the Southern Plains were.

"Since year 1 of the Great Bara Calendar, demons have been pouring out of the Southern Plains and wrought havoc to the rest of the continent." told Evelyn. "The fall of Havensground more than 700 years ago was part of that terror."

The name Havensground triggered murmurs from the crowd as it was one of the darkest moment in Mortalia's history.

"In respond to this state of the world, the Holy Nation of Zion then came up with a measure to reduce the amount of demons roaming in the continent in the year 300."

Evelyn grabbed a colored chalk and highlight a long line across the Southern Plains region on the map.

"With the aid from the Magic Tower Circle, the Adventurer Guild, and all the countries in the Bara Continent, Holy Nation of Zion stationed armies on the border of the Southern Plains to contain the number of demons escaping the region."

Evelyn wrote something on the blackboard.

"People of the Bara Continent named the armies stationed on the Southern Plains as the Ebenezer Barricade. It refers to the furthest distance into the Southern Plains that the Holy Nation of Zion could station their troops." said Evelyn. "The name implies that the locations where the armies are currently stationed at are where Einsof stopped helping His creations. Since the armies could no longer push any further to the Southern Plains from those point on."

The students, especially the knights and squires, made a note of the Ebenezer Barricade. They wondered how strong one must be to be part of an army that is stationed at the frontline in the war against demons.

"For more than 600 years the Ebenezer Barricade stood on the border of the Southern Plains. Many heroes were sent to the Barricade, and almost just as many heroes were lost there." said Evelyn. "Ever since the Ebenezer Barricade's formation, the Mortalia Empire have been known to have sent her best warriors to the border of the Southern Plains to help with the demon containment."

Evelyn snapped her fingers and a dirt replica of an armor set appeared from the ground. The set was consisted of an armor, a shield, and a heavy sword.

The young lady pointed to the armor set and continued with the lecture.

"Ever since the year 300, the Mortalia Empire have been sending those who were chosen to don the Champion Armor of Mortalia on an expedition to the Ebenezer Barricade. Every Champion of Mortalia that was chosen since year 300 had visited the Ebenezer Barricade, at least once.

"Countess Gerhardt, the current Champion of Mortalia, have made ten trips to the Barricade ever since she donned the Champion Armor more than thirty years ago."

The hall filled with murmurs yet again because of the name Countess Gerhardt. All of them there knew about her and how great of a warrior she was. And to think that she was involved in keeping the entire continent safe made them feel proud to have a hero like her in their nation.

"Not just Mortalia, all the countries in the continent have been sending their own champion to the Ebenezer Barricade as well.

"The strongest amongst the strongest warriors. The greatest amongst the greatest mages. The bravest amongst the bravest adventurers. The holiest amongst the holiest saints.

"For more than 600 years, those people were sent to the Ebenezer Barricade to keep the demons from leaving the Southern Plains."

Evelyn's expression suddenly turned dark. She knew what she would say next would not be as uplifting.

"But, of course, not even all of them could contain the evils which dwelled in that cursed land."
