Confrontation

Hayley

"It's Zion, he's the one who took your child away!" Miranda finally revealed on the fifth attempt. I felt my blood curdle the moment Zion's name was mentioned. I always had my suspicions about him, but this was simply too much.

But instead of storming out immediately, I knelt beside Miranda, who was visibly drained from the effort it had taken to use her magic and help me see the truth. She was pale, her breath labored, and her hands trembled slightly.

"Miranda," I said softly, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Are you okay?"

She nodded weakly, though the exhaustion was evident in her eyes. "I'll be fine. It was worth it, Hayley. You needed to know."

My chest tightened at her selflessness. She had used what little strength she had left to help me, despite needing every ounce of energy to search for her sister. I didn't trust her before, but now it was clear that she had really changed and wanted to help in any way she could.
